Guest guest
Actually, you can retain the nutrition and raw life energy of natural items in the dehydrator by keeping the heat below 115 degrees. Sprouts on their own probably will not dehydrate well as they would shrivel up pretty quickly, however they would be great additions to raw cracker/bread type foods you prepare in your dehydrator-such as adding broccoli/ garlic/onion/radish sprouts to a flax seed raw cracker base. I just got an Excalibur and am looking forward to experimenting and making some healthy raw crackers myself. Here are some great raw cracker/chips links...... http://www.therawtarian.com/recipe-categories/raw-dehydrated-crackers-and-breads\ <http://www.therawtarian.com/recipe-categories/raw-dehydrated-crackers-and-bread\ s> http://www.therawtarian.com/recipe-categories/raw-chips<http://www.therawtarian.\ com/recipe-categories/raw-chips> http://www.raw-food-living.com/cracker-recipes.html<http://www.raw-food-living.c\ om/cracker-recipes.html> Re: Chips? , I don't think one makes any kind of chips with their sprouts.Sprouts are meant (most of them anyway) to be eaten in the raw state because cooking destroys the enzymes. I do use my pea shoots in stir-frys and in a batter fritter type of thing. So if you are really on a strict budget, grow some pea shoots (you get 4 cuttings from one pea) and imagine all the little fritter patty things you can make. My landlord now grows pea shoots in her back yard. So I do 3 things with pea shoots (and my sunflower shoots too). I use them in a salad, I stir fry them, and I dip them in batter and fry them. Amazing what one can do with shoots. And you can add any other veggie to the mix too. Tonight I'm doing a pea shoot, sunny, chia, zucchini and tomato fritter (with some onions and garlic thrown in). I do them very thin in the pan and flip them over till they are nice and brown. The onion makes them taste like oniony potato chips. And the best part is that I make a double batch, put them in a container. Then the next day I put in a oven safe dish, pop them in my convection oven (which is over 25 years old but like new) and they heat up and are still crispy. Love doing this!!! Guest guest
I don't think that you're going to like the taste of the bean vine, ew Re: Re: Chips? EW, I wasn't sprouting beans but am growing beans. These are in a pod but the beans inside are white beans. They sure sprouted fast and came up. I just wondered about the leaves as I could cut a few off them and wouldn't likely hurt them. But I'm not ready to cook them at all. They were in a package so not sure they are without any germination chemicals. I still have some left so I'll check to see if it is organic. I tried to get organic.
