I've tried sprouting brown rice several times and it never gets those

little tails on it. It would be good for you even if it doesn't really

sprout, though. Same with oatmeal, I always soak it at least overnight,

and sometimes soak it in kefir, then add fruit and eat it. Yummy!

Hi, maybe most of you already know this, but I am new and didn't know

that brown rice can be bitter if sprouted too long.

I grew my first batch of brown rice sprouts for 48 hours total, cooked

it and turned so delicious, soft and chewy. I wanted more and

immediately grew my 2nd batch, but let them go 12 hours longer. These

turned out mushier and had a bitter taste to them.

I guess it is not a good idea to over sprout!

, I use the short grain (Asian brand), soak in warm water 8 hours, then

let sit in a colander for 24 hours, the tails show up by then. Then rinse once

more and let sit 12 more hours and cook. Very yummy. I'll try the oats next

time I see whole oats.
