Guest guest
Also consider that clothing stores are a witches brew of chemicals from the new clothing, the sizing agent, fresh dyes, etc. I have also smelled at " musty-like " smell but it goes away with 1-2 washings. The HVAC system, especially the A/C in the humid climate where you are, could be generating true " musty " odors from mold and bacteria on the coils and inside the ducting. It could also be drawing in the odors from the outside air, most commercial units are required to include some outside air. The VOCs from mold and bacteria and other " filth " is in the same family of chemicals (VOCs), with overlap, as other VOCs on clothing, dyes, cleaning products, personal care products. Which makes sorting out the souce very difficult. Identifying odors is also dicey. Assumptions can influence how we experience and identify. Had a client years ago where all three of us agreed there was an undesirable odor in one room. But we disagreed on what it was. One said it was mold, another hand lotion, and another formaldehyde. ! Even lab testing for the chemical(s) could be indecisive if the VOC was one common to both. Carl Grimes Healthy Habitats LLC ----- This has happened several times now. Metal building. Some roof leaks but manager claims fised within days and the roofing et all is metal..looks metal to me. First hit.. stadium chair cushion.. I figured it was one that someone brought back. I smelled a wiff of mustiness and stupidly put it up to my nose to smell it.. bad idea. I recovered ok.. think I may have had tachycardia, some breathing issues. Thinking isolated incident. Pick out a chair on another isle and it smells fine (of chemicals but not " must " ). Go to boys sock isle.. all plastic wrapped as far as I can tell. But I can smell the " musty " smell.. where is this coming from? I cant see anything that would be the source. The bags of socks in plastic smell fine so I get a few. Walk over a few isles to sweat pants and jeans.. smell like chemicals nto musty.. get those. there are two stores in this town.. kmart and walmart.. i choose walmart because kmart has stained ceiling tiles all along one section of the store) Last night.. halloween costumes.. one that my daugher likes is an opned package.. so a return I would suspect or opened in the store. I do not smell anything other than chemicals in this section.. nothing to make me think to be concerned.. I get a whiff and the musty smell is there.. again.. dont believe my nose and ptu it right up to my nose and take a whiff.. bad mistake,, I almost had to go to hospital last night. breathing issues, feeling of swellling in my throat like there was a coating of something (not mucous) causing irritation.. I drank tons of water and it helps. I find a nasal spray with saline and some xylitol and spray my nose.. blow.. there is blood. my sinuses and brain are inflammed but diff from in m old house.. but similar.. brain foggy, ick..worse part was the breating.. I couldnt wash out my lungs. Same night.. we walked down the boys sock isle.. i smell that musty smell again.. only that isle and nothing it seemed could be the source.. then i see a pile of cargo pants that seem to be the only thing not wrapped in plastic.. I just called the manager.. they are going to check it out and call me back.. I told him I almost ended up in hospital and some of us are very sensistive to mold, mildew, etc.. and it can be dangerous. He seemed concerned.. so we shall see.. they do not store very much at all in the store.. goes from truck directly out to floor??? I warned him about moist areas.. but seemingly they do not store.. I wonder if there is something going in in the return area. But I think that stuff goes out quicly back to the isle. I cannot see how one person returned this stuff from teh same house but maybe that possible..?? Any advice on what to do next time.. Its this store or kmart with the obvious water damage.. maybe it still better??? Also what the heck is in musty smelling stuff that causes such a reaction? Wondering if I am also unmasking.. hope so.. at least that will make some sense. Thanks.. Guest guest
Chip: based upon the observations on the moisture content of the condo, I doubt that interior surface remediation will correct the problem. The moisture penetration must be stopped first. Do you agree? Re: [] Hit at Walmart when I first got sick I could smell the mold coming out of the vents in these big stores. Guest guest
Whatever it was, it gave me an experience I dont want to repeat. I didnt smell it throughout the building.. only associated with the two items I stupidly put to my nose and smelled and the isle where the boys socks and underwear are.. this one might smell diff than the two I put to my nose.. and maybe because there was nothing to put to my nose to further investigate or maybe becasue this was a diff voc stew. The store gets to all of us.. red eyes, woozy or irritated after a while. This I can tell is chemicals. I dont undetstand how people work there. I dont feel this horrible I cant breath well, inflammation in the brain go to the the hospital feeling though if not putting these items to my nose.. I need to trust my inital wiff and walk away. These smelled like old life jackets that have been left out too long to the elements. Smelled like water or humidity damage. I smelled other costumes and they smelled like chemicals. Good point about HVAC and nothing I can do about that other than wash up afterward if residual effects or find another store.. if there is one. Guest guest
I generally feel mildly ill in Walmart, in such a way that I hate shopping there and refuse to go in. Send my partner in. But generally, what do you get there you can't get elsewhere? The H.E.B. here is really good. Lowes, I always find to be fine. > > > > Also consider that clothing stores are a witches brew of > > chemicals from the new clothing, the sizing agent, fresh dyes, > > etc. I have also smelled at " musty-like " smell but it goes away > > with 1-2 washings. > > > > > >

Guest guest
this is very odd you mention the shocking and newly remodeled floors.. this is true for this walmart.. and I kept getting shocked.. shocking is suppsed to have something to do with biotoxin illness but i have not been shocked anywhere else but there.. how very odd. the superstores are so overwhelming with the smells, lights emfs.. so few options here though. until they get a publix in, there is only walmart and winn dixie and the winn dixie has obvious wter damage (maybe its safer than walmart dispite that fact). Guest guest
I went down at my daughters house, a few days ago, weird one, lost all strenght and ability to move for quite a while, no coughing reaction in the lungs this time, just went down, scary, finally crawed my way to the couch and a open window and slowly regained strenght. my daughter gave my ice tea, was really thirsty, and jellie on toast, it seemed to help some. was by the garden and around that green mold that likes to grow on brick outside when I started felling bad, I've thought that kind gets to me before, could have been a few orther things adding to it, cloths dryer running, ect. last time that happened it was followed by spasms and twitches from the waist down, this time just the felling like I got hit from a mac truck afterwards. tottal loss of balance, no air getting to the brain I guess,or something getting to the brain. weird though that my heart wasn't raceing or anything , just comple loss of body strenght and balance. kind of scary not knowing when or where something well bring you down this way. it seemed to me to be like a seizure type effect. > > I recently went their and had to drag both of my legs out of the store. > Neurological problems followed by a great exhaxerbation in pain. Both legs, > started with left ,proceeded to both. Then a massive headache by the time I got > home. There is also another problem with these newly floor remoldled stores I > have noticed they are improperly grounded. I have walked into 2 of these > (building not new) floors, display mechandise where redone.  New freezers put > in and pharmacies moved. Something is terribly wrong as I am shocked the whole > time I am in there, mind you not a long time exept for this last time and I > deeply regret it.  >

Guest guest
I get the leg wobblies in some stores. I thought it was due to the cleaners not mold even though mold makes me wobbly too. > > > > I recently went their and had to drag both of my legs out of the store. > > Neurological problems followed by a great exhaxerbation in pain. Both legs, > > started with left ,proceeded to both. Then a massive headache by the time I got > > home. There is also another problem with these newly floor remoldled stores I > > have noticed they are improperly grounded. I have walked into 2 of these > > (building not new) floors, display mechandise where redone.  New freezers put > > in and pharmacies moved. Something is terribly wrong as I am shocked the whole > > time I am in there, mind you not a long time exept for this last time and I > > deeply regret it.  > > >
Guest guest
ive had breathing issues and elevated bp and pulse since i sniffed the costume. i feel very certain it was isolated to certain items and not of the same brand or same item. they are storing returns in a bad place. i am giving in and taking a diflucan left over from when takin abx round and see what happens. its fungal or reactive airways to some water associated damage or chemicals. i dont know how to address lungs.. any ideas? what kind of mask? i am smelling chemicals like made now since we moved. ive herd through the grapevine that the stuff growing on buildings is an algae and packs a load... possibly cyanobacteria. thank you robin > > > I have similar problems in WalMart. What bothers me the most is my eyesight. > It's not really blurry but I can't focus well even if I put my reading > glasses on. Guest guest
yes, if I walk into a store and they are cleaning the floors, I usually have to walk right back out while I still can, pinesol just wipes me out. > > I get the leg wobblies in some stores.
