Guest guest
Ugh. Yeah, compounded with the "It's summer; I'll never catch up with the yardwork let alone the cleaning, and swimming 3 times a week" feeling. I'm determined to put getting in shape first, but when you're sleeping nearly 12 hours a day it's hard to do much anyway. I haven't forgotten I owe you a pizza party. What day (other than Thursday) works for you? Sharon [ ] Sharon What is with all the distraction? Are you alright? I know how that, I have my dates, Oh,my God, I have to fix the world first, feeling can be.

Guest guest
Hi, . I wish! I had some fun in the pond yesterday, feeding the lilies. Trying out some once-a-year fertilizer spikes. I'm still so wiped from yesterday that about all I could manage today was a 20 min. bike ride. Funny, when I do that kind of work I have fun, and take breaks to hand-feed the fish, etc., and just go and go, but I pay for it the next day. All that bending will be a no-no for quite a while after surgery, so I want things in shape before. But ugh! There's still so much more to do of the hard physical work, I'm constantly debating what to do next. You're right about the grabber, LOL. Maybe a combination of long-handled weeder, hoe, and grabber. Dang, it will be hard not doing my own mowing, because I mulch my shrubs and things with leaves and grass clippings the mower picks up. Sharon [ ] Sharon Hi sharon,How is all the pre surgery stuff going? Getting everything done?Especially that garden? You'll have to turn a cold shoulder to it if weeds start popping up post surgery Or are you going to see if your grabber can get them. Guest guest
Hi Sharon, sounds busy. Be sure to find time to fine tune your recovery spot. I know I spent a ton of time making sure my beadroom was just right. > > Hi, . > > I wish! I had some fun in the pond yesterday, feeding the lilies. Trying out some once-a-year fertilizer spikes. Guest guest
It is slow. I usually just use my email program. It can take quite a while before my post comes back to me, though. Guest guest
Oh, yeah, but I just took a closer look. Couldn't make out anything in the first, but from the second I'd say you have a really low curvature, mostly in the lumbar. The film doesn't show much thoracic spine so I'm guessing the fusion starts at T8 or T9? Looks like neat work on the instrumentation. What's your reaction to it? Guest guest
Thanks for asking, . It was a bit rainy, but not too bad. The visit to Dr. Kearney, the urologist, went ok. He didn't think I needed the cystometrogram, just examined me and said I'd be welcome to come back if needed over the course of treatment with Dr. Rand and Dr. Woodard. He also RAVED about what a wonderful surgeon Dr. Rand is. We got lunch at New England Baptist's cafeteria, then went to see Dr. Tandon for the EMG (electromyogram). He was very pleasant, took me through a complete neuro exam and history, then met me in the EMG lab. Amit got to watch the test, which was pretty interesting. He surprised me with how little the needles hurt. I think it was that he stuck them in very fast, without any fuss. But he did comment that I am very tolerant. I had told myself it couldn't be more painful than my regular massage therapy treatments, and it wasn't AS painful. A few of the holes insisted on bleeding, but I'm fine now. He did find a little abnormality in my left leg reflexes, what he called a "brisk" response, which only happens intermittantly, and a slight clonus (a type of abnormal foot movement). But all in all he thinks I have good responses, probably no nerve damage, which should mean the decompression Dr. Rand will do during the revision will help with the leg problems. Oh, and he also went out of his way to say that Dr. Rand is wonderful, and that Dr. Woodard is definitely the one to go to for de-tethering a spinal cord. Sharon [ ] Sharon How did your test go? I hope Boston wasn't rainy today.
Guest guest
Sharon, How awesome is that??? They are all raving about your surgeons. It must be great to have that boosting your confidence. It must be hitting home with the hubby right about now. It is too bad that someone going through this doesn't do a video documentary just so it would be available for the next revisionist or hubby that needs to be informed. I am so glad the tests were not to uncomfortable. Well, it is the home stretch now. Did you get a mattress?
Guest guest
Hi, Yeah, it was remarkable. These weren't casual "oh he's a good doctor"s, either. Dr. Kearney was rating Rand as absolute tops. I think it had already hit home with Hubby. He's so funny, though, with his latest line "you're gonna owe me big-time." After all I've been through with his diabetes and other health stuff, I'm sure he knows I can't possibly think he's serious. He just wants to be appreciated, while I point out that he didn't just have needles stuck in his legs. At least he wasn't complaining about the traffic! You're right, this stuff would make a great documentary. (I left out the part about getting my period the night before the urology appointment. Lights! Camera! I've never had a baby so I guess this is how I get my fair share of embarrasment, LOL.) Nope, no mattresses yet. I just dread walking in big stores. Wanna go shopping with me?! (Just kidding). I want Amit to shop with me so I don't have to go twice, but I suppose it's best if I go alone so I can take my time sacking out on various mattresses. If I could get 2 long twins just like our king I think that would be great, but I couldn't find that size online so I'm dubious. Thanks for the encouragement. Guest guest
Sharon, It sounds like you had an interesting day, to say the least. And wow...you really are getting close now...less than 2 months. Are there many more tests you will need to do? It is nice to hear DrRands fellow workers think alot of him. I always figure they always have the option of saying nothing if they don't think much of someones doctoring skills...but I found nurses, staff and other doctors went out of their way to say something positive about DrRand...and I thought it was reassuring. Happy gardening, Cam

Guest guest
Hi, . You're a real sweetie. I should be helping YOU. Or are you all better now? ;^) The thing that would help me the most would be a self-discipline transfusion. Or how about a wonderful pain med that doesn't make one drowsy (except at bedtime and only for 8 hours!) I'm sleeping my life away. I suppose that's better than being kept awake by anxiety. Sharon [ ] sharon Hi Sharon,How is it going? How is the preperation coming along? Anything I can do to help?
Guest guest
Sharon, i am far from " all better " but it is nice to see light at the end of the tunnel and to make it to the third post op and have them say, see you in three months. I look forward to ditching the stim and brace. I am so sure that after surgery and you are on the down slope you will enjoy a light pain med like Vicadin which does not make you drowsy, just takes the edge off. I occasionally at night still need one. Driving restriction is off. Want a get together on Sunday for pizza for old times sake? I would love to wish you luck in person, pre surgery. > > Hi, . > > You're a real sweetie. I should be helping YOU. Guest guest
Hm, you're coming up for my birthday. :^) Unfortunately (and fortunately) I don't have anything scheduled in Boston on the 3rd.
