Guest guest
I used the expanding foam, once dried it has no odor and did not offgas. I think it was called stuffit, I am not sure. One thing is that we put it into the whole a few inches down and it would " crackle " when the pipes expanded alot. I used that amount as we had a problem with mice and not that amount would be needed if you were just trying to keep it air tight. I would be curious if others had suggestions. We tried just insulation first but the mice could move it. Aluminum foil would also work if you are keeping out air. Good luck~ > > I am wanting to seal around the gaps around the pipes where they enter the floor in my hot water baseboard heater. Because the pipes can reach 180 degrees, should I use a high temperature caulk such as 3M's Fire Block sealant? > > Since I am chemically sensitive, I am concerned about offgassing from the caulk. Could it offgas quickly and be relatively safe in a short amount of time? Is there another product that I could use? Would expanding foam work? > > Thank you for any information and help! >
Guest guest
Would the brillo " thing " be air tight? If the expanding foam " crackled " with the heat, I imagine it wouldn't be air tight. Perhaps I should try the aluminum foil. Thanks!
