What a beautiful video. It makes me so sad that so many parents are denied the priveledge of raising a child like , if only his picture was the one they would see when they heard those words in the doctors office!!!!!!

Potty Training / Down Syndrome Belongs video

Hi all,

I haven't posted in a long time, but thought I would try to contribute a little by sharing some information. I attended a potty training seminar by Judith Coucouvanis (from Univ. of Michigan). It was geared toward special needs kids and although most parents in the audience had children with Autism, the techniques still seem to apply well to any special needs kids. I must say I learned a lot of things (never thought you could spend 2 hours talking about potty training!) I've been trying some of the suggestions with Aidan, my 5 year old, and have had some success.

She has just published a book on the subject "The Potty Journey". I believe you can find it on www.asperger.net.

Also came across a nice video titled "Down Syndrome Belongs" that addresses the issue of prenatal screening (presented by the Nova Scotia Down Syndrome society)- not sure if anyone else has posted this, so here is the link:
