Dave,

I fully agree with Sue about minerals and electrolytes (and

vitamins). Your experience is exactly why intense sauna with

heavy workouts should best be monitored by a physician who is

familiar with the procedure and how it affects the body.

Three things are occurring simultaneously:

1. Depletion and unbalancing of minerals, electrolytes and

vitamins.

2. Intense re-exposure of all the toxins from years of absorption

into body fat. They are now being mobilized from the fat

(including cell walls) and back into the blood stream. You are not

reacting to them one at a time, but all at once.

3. Risk of heat exhaustion and improper water intake. With

intense sweating you'd think you need more water. But a gallon a

day plus, perhaps, more because of the workout and sauna could

be causing water poisoning. For example, the deaths from the

ecstacy drug weren't from the drug but from extreme thirst

resulting in massive water intake, causing water poisoning.

Everybody knows how I am rather obsessive (some might say

obnoxious) about keeping fear and hysteria to as low a level as

possible so informed concern is what is driving our decisions. But

this is a situation of grave concern to me and I want to emphasize

how critical this could become.

Dave, I've been through a sauna/exercise program with strict

medical monitoring and I continued it on my own afterwards. I

witnessed the reactivity and consequences of others in much

worse condition than I was in. You are unknowingly altering the

functioning of your body without expertise on the limits or how to

rebalance.

*** Please *** reduce the intensity and seek medical advice, not

from a nutritional sales person but from a medical professional.

To the group, someone recently asked me about my experience

with sauna detox. I promise to post this, hopefully this weekend.

Thank you Sue, there's a female body builder (google Dana s) I know that

works at GNC I'll ask her what trisalts or electrolytes I should purchase. It's

also been suggested that I should look into a good multivitamin as well.

Thanks again

I will add one more thing, I am seeing a naturopath, mainly because I

smashed my face recently and squished all the bones in my head in a

freak accident, not to worry, it only caused a small cut which is

healing, but I was getting wicked headaches, and this naturopath is a

gifted cranial sacral practitioner, a long ways to get to my point I

know....so, in this process, she offered to look at my sick son's

history/file (she is in his doctor's office) and she is putting him on

heavy duty nutritional IVs including high dose vitamin C to repair

oxidative damage from everything including all the drugs the docs have

put him on which included benzos several years ago, she mentioned the

benzos, as I recall you were on these two, you might want to see an ND

to see if you could benefit from some drug damage cellular repair...

On another note, we discovered my sick son has a mycoplasma infection,

this is a small and hard to eradicate no-cell wall kind of bacteria,

another thing to fight.....

Thank you Carl and everyone else that took the time to respond to my question.

Carl as you know I push myself extremely hard and as I grow older my body just

cant take the punishment I put it through. Mentally Im still the 18 year old

that thinks he's invincible. Physically Im the 50 something old man that cant do

the things his mind says he can. Im going to make an appoint with my GP

(starting point) and see what direction he wants to go and how my particular

situation needs to be handled.

All I want to do is get my health back, when I was younger exercise got me

through just about every health crisis that I've been confronted with. It seemed

the harder I pushed myself the better I would feel but unfortunately my

philosophy isn't holding true this time. This time what ever is in my system is

putting up a fight and isnt letting go as easily as I would like it to.

Thanks again for all your replies

I agree with what everyone has said, Tug. You can be using up energy that could

be used to heal. There is the break down and the build up. I would think

breaking down is not a good idea.

Also, please follow the advice on electrolytes and minerals. For electrolytes:

Biopure US and Selectroyltes are I think the best, but expensive. I mix an

electrolyte solution with cranberry juice and water with some stevia and trace

minerals. I know alot of people who use concentrace for minerals. I use one that

has fulvic acid which supposedly aids in absorption. I use nutramedix trace

minerals. There are sources online that are cheaper than buying direct.. Im sure

there are many other brands. Im used to this one and miss it when I dont have

it.

Also.. replacing salt.. I make a salty lemonade with sea salt. I will crave

these when I need them. I put to taste from 1/4 to 1/2 tsp salt in water with 2

lemons in a quart jar and usually guzzle them because they taste so good. I can

tell when I need to back off as well. The sea salt will have minerals as well.

Ive never tried tri salts though heard them recommended quite a bit.
