Don't consider it as failing. It's just been postponed, and that's alright because I am right there with you:) I can't seem to eat healthy, but I do know that I am eating healthier which is a good thing. But I like my splurges, that makes life worth living. I know that you need to be healthy but as long as I am excercising and being active, that's all that matters, well at least to me. But you haven't failed at anything. look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself one nice thing that you see... Because I have never seen you but I know that you are a very caring and supportive friend I have become do depend on to keep my chin up. So thanks to you Debbie AMY
Guest guest
Thanks, Debbie. I'm on day 8 and still going strong! And that's with my husband being away and Rudy being a mess. Next weekend will be the real test though because Thursday is " chinese food lunch " at work (once a year my office goes to a Chinese restaurant for a feast), Saturday day is the land luncheon, and Saturday night is dinner at an Ethiopian restaurant. I'm allowed to participate in all of those meals without breaking my challenge. The problem is that getting used to eating fattening food again may make me want to binge. Talking this out helps. Maybe at the Chinese luncheon also just sample the things I really like, skip the others, and concentrate on my soup. Elena Elena...I'm a huge Chinese Buff so I understand. Try ordering from the Vegetarian Menu...or get something like Moo Go Gai Pan with Chicken. Another favorite is Lovers Shrimp...but ask to only get the shrimp in the red tomatoe sauce...it is VERY low fat. Chicken and broccoli is also low fat...skip the eggroll if at all possible ( I love eggrolls) and try to get a clear broth soup .......my favorite but not well known is chicken and shrimp in bamboo cup. IT is made with a chicken broth, snow peas, shrimp water chestnuts and shitake mushrooms. Yummy. You can actually eat very healthy when you eat chinese if you know what to get and limit your portions. I would have a hard time just trying to " eat healthy, " because too many things come up. That's why I am focusing on my after dinner bingeing for my challenge. You can use what Jenni and I am using to motivate us through this new healthy eating challenge: the fear of having to start the 21DC over again. Good luck. > > Elena-I'm really thrilled to hear that you lost the 5 lbs. that you > gained during the holidays. In fact, I'm really proud of you. Guest guest
Thanks so much, guys! Your support means so much to me. Overall, my eating hasn't been too bad, but I needed to get in control. A cookie here and something else there, would eventually play a heavy toll, weight gain wise. Elena-I finally confronted the source of my stress and voiced it out loud Saturday evening. My husband is leaving today (at least he's supposed to) to Honduras on a mission trip. Even though he isn't religious, he wanted to go. He's always wanted to work in a foreign country, so he felt that this would be a perfect opportunity. Our children go to the Baptist church and it's their church who is building a church for this village. He'll be gone for 12 days with no contact whatsoever. The village they are going to is only accessible by boat. It's a very poor village. They have no potable water and noelectricity, which will be actually good. It will be beans, rice and tortillas the whole time they are there, which is not good, since I'm part Mexican. ;-D Confronting this stress relieved the burden that I had been carrying inside and I'm no longer grabbing something out of stress. I went through the same stress last year when our son went on his mission trip and I'll be going through it again when our daughter goes in April. I have no doubt that I will make it this time. The support that I'm receiving from you guys are helping me a lot. After all, as Elena said, I don't want to start the 21dc eating challenge over again. LOL. I just thought about that this morning. Gosh, I would have been darn with the darn challenge yesterday!

Guest guest
Debbie, I think that is wonderful. My husband has wonderful skills that any mission trip would benefit from. I would love to see him go. I would love to go on a mission trip myself, with my kids. Someday, sigh. I think it is a wonderful thing to do. Let us know what he thought about it when he comes back!!
