Oh, how sad...have you taken him to the doctor? What does the doctor say? Is he eating out of depression or lack of things to do?

I had friends who adopted and fostered a lot of down syndrome children and they were like that too. They had to lock the refridgerator and hide things. Sounds so sad. Can you speak to your son about it? Does he understand what he is doing?

One thought came to my mind....buy only healthy foods...like fruit...no junk food. Buy things he doesn't like to eat but you do...this way you know he won't pig out on them. Buy diet coke, diet items...

Is there medication that might help this? Wow...I feel for you and him...how sad. I worry too because the weight is no good for the body especially for his heart. Does he know this and understand it? Maybe you could sit and watch one of the shows where they are working with a very heavy person to lose weight?

Prayers to you...

Does anyone else have an aspie child who is "addicted" to food? When I say addicted, I mean, that is all he thinks about is eating or food. I have to monitor what he eats and when because he would eat constantly if I let him.

Also, I know a lot of aspie's don't really like going out of their comfort zone, as in home, etc, but lately, my son doesn't want to go anywhere. He wants to stay home and do nothing. Of course, we make him go with us, etc when we go places, but all we hear when we're gone is when are we going home or to eat.

Anyone else have these issues? And if so, any advice??

Most people can take the treatment. Some people like me it made too sick to

take it. I have had many friends take it with complete success. Here is the

worst case senerio: If it makes you too sick (flu w/ depression) you may stop

anytime and just eat healthy as you can like I do (have had hep for 30 yrs and

active for 15) and carry on or: Best case senerio will be like the majority of

people and you will get rid of it.

Hang in there because you are not alone . I will pray for you.

1.  Make sure you have a close friend who will promise to stand by you no matter

how crazy you might get.

2.  Drink lots of water.

3. Inject at night before bed.

4. Resign yourself to the fact that you aren't going to sleep for shit the

entire treatment.

5. Know that it's going to be unpredictable how you react from day to day.

6. Expect to be a basket case some or a lot of the time.

7. If you're overwieght enjoy the fact that you might lose some of those extra

pounds during the treatment.

8. Join a gym - exercise the best you can

9. Get as much rest as you can, when you can.

10. Take a good multi viatmin and consider adding a supplement called Neuro

Optimizer from Jarrow into your daily regimen.

11. Ibuprofin is your friend.

12. Have a support circle of close friends or join a support group.

13. Eat healthy.

14.  Know that there is a finish line - genotype 3 is way easier to treat - like

80% success rate

15. Maybe you won't have any of these difficulties -- this was just my

experience.

16. If it doesn't work for you -- they will know within the first 12 weeks.

Hope this helps

Hi , A good support team is very helpful. Communication between you, your

doctor and anyone at home is important. During treatment you will have doctors

appointments; try to take someone with you to write down what the doctor says.

Keep a Side Effects diary as you may not remember them when you see the dr.

Both Schering and Roche have 24 hour '800' numbers to help you during treatment.

See if you can find a support group in your area.

www.HCVAdvocate.org has several good publications. Click on " hcsp GUIDES " and

scroll down to 'Treatment Issues'. Look for Side Effects Management and Guide

to Keep You on Treatment. They are both fairly large so you may not want to

print them out, but you can if you want to.

1988 got a virus, maybe Epstein Barr, that knocked me for a loop. Couple

of weeks later my wife came down with the same thing. We were terribly

sick for years until we learned how to fight back. We have candida and

are struggling to get rid of it. Don't know if it's just the candida

causing the problems or the candida and Epstein Barr. I'm sixty going on

forty. Besides this, I'm in excellent health.

Here's what we do to fight back:

amitrypline

transfer factor

acupuncture

exercise (jog 4-5 days a week)

bed by 8 or 9

no sugar

fruits, veggies, chicken, red meat once in a while

mortim is helpful too

Several weeks ago ordered the Ultimate Zapper. Started out zapping 10

min then twenty min, the other night I zapped an hour. Had some die off

and lots of dead candida coming out. I don't do the colon cleaning that

I read about or enamas. Thannks. / Ron

I heard oil of oregano is excellent for candida.

Also eat plenty of soup with fresh raw garlic during the times

when you get sick.  Stay away from all forms of bread, especially

bread made with yeast.  Replace soda with vegetable juice for

about a week.  Drink plenty of fresh green tea.

Naturopaths and functional medical doctors work best with candida.

www.naturopathic.org

It was money well spent for me...I did a stool test as well because of strange

digestive symptoms and found I had a rare kind of yeast as well.

Hi everyone,

I'm only 25 and have been suffering with weird health problems for years

that I believe is due to candida. Been tested for so many things.. doctors

just make me worse. Im sure I have candida trouble. I get yeast infections

way too much as well.

I think my candida is due to my 12 mercury amalgam fillings probably. I

plan to find a holistic dentist with a decent price that can remove these over

the next few months. After that, I want to fight the candida and hope that

SOMETHING will get better. Can anyone give me advice on the best ways to

fight candida? Im really unsure about everything and could really use some

help.

Thanks guys,

I had my amalgam fillings removed, and had composite fillings put in their

place. Please educate yourself about this process, and take your time to

find a really great, knowledgeable dentist.

The reason I say this is that a few years after having my amalgam fillings

removed, I discovered through allergy testing that I am allergic to my

composite fillings! I just assumed composite fillings were going to be

infinitely better for my health than mercury amalgams, and I also thought that

all

composite materials were the same. Boy was I wrong. You'd be amazed at the

endless brands of composite materials that are out there.

I don't want to deter you from having your amalgams switched out. I'm a

very allergic person in general, so I'm not saying this will happen to you.

But if you have allergies, or suspect that you might, approach this procedure

well educated. (There's a company that does allergy testing specifically

for dental materials -- if you'd like their contact info., let me know and

I'll forward it to you).

fighting candida includes a strict diet regime.

The diet is the most important factor in overcoming candida, as via strict diet

you stop feeding your candida. Take your time to get into the diet but don't

take to much time. Candida feeds on sugar and high carbs. Here's more info:

Antifungals will be step 2 and there is much debate over which works best. You

After using almost natural and medical antifungal on the market, the MMS is

still the best in my clinical experience and it is the most inexpensive at a

cost of $25 for ruffily a 6 month supply.

I would get food allergy testing. You are having allergic reactions know doubt

to things. Also try Kirkman Labs hypoallergenic vit/min. My food allergy guy

does well with them. I'd also go on a basic food elimination diet to figure out

what foods are causing grief.

I'd try to add digestive enzymes with eating and probiotics.

I'm new here & don't think I'm ready to chelate yet, but am looking forward to

it.

I have bad yeast. Started out with thrush. Still have some bumps on the back

of my tounge. A biological dentist said it wasn't thrush. In the fall 2 doc's

said it was.

I used APC for mos. Now, I think an eye is effected. Does anyone know what

can I use for it?

I'm more sensitive & not as young as I used to be, aren't we all..

Can olive leaf extract help the eye? I can't tolerate GSE or any citric

fruits.

What anti-fungals would you try now? I had a bad reaction to Diflucan or it

was bad die-off?? Tried Nystatin & couldn't handle it compounded with B-6.

I took 1 Diflucan pill & it caused this swelling feeling in my throat, fast

heart-beat & ribs tightened, felt like it was harder to breath. The good part

was all congestion I had dried up. I get a mucous cough from some foods. It's

not bad my lungs are clear, just a cough that goes away.

Heart attack type symptoms from C. I can't believe it. I tried 1/5 of a cap

of ph balanced C & the same thing again. It radiated in the chest & all over.

I drank 5 glasses of water to get through it. So, is this severe leaky gut or

systemic yeast?

Tonight I had a reactoin to the only carb I was giving into --corn chips. One

side of my head is numb, tight down the neck, plus numbness in that hand. The

same side that has the cyst & the eye issue. I'll buy some B-complex, my nerves

are shot. Having trouble with Mag citrate now. Causes that swelling feeling.

Anyone know about malate form?

I don't want to take anymore Benydryl. The metallic taste comes with the

reaction.... Sometimes I wonder if it's Lyme. When I turn left I see a floater,

same side that's effected. When the yeast is better, don't see it much.

Sorry for going on. I'll buy some B-complex, my nerves are shot. So, biotin

can fight yeast. I got a Neuro apt. coming up & to see what the hair

test shows I'll share.

At my house, what worked best to control yeast was biotin and GSE.

OLE worked well here to eliminate bacteria and certain viruses. It actually

*increased* yeast, because viral die off caused a lot of yeast here.

Might have been yeast, especially if you have latent viruses.

At my house, vitamin C required carnitine for proper absorption, so might have

been that also.

> Tonight I had a reactoin to the only carb I was giving into --corn chips.

At my house, corn and other carotene foods were not tolerated until I corrected

carotene conversion issues, which required zinc, vitamin C, and thyroid support

[selenium, tyrosine, and iodine].

>>Having trouble with Mag citrate now. Causes that swelling feeling. Anyone know

about malate form?

At my house, magnesium required taurine for proper absorption.

Hi Selina

You may not need to rush out and get a biopsy.

It depends on the labs, and how bad your husband's liver is.

I suggest that you ask his doctor about it.

If the labs are not that bad, he might be able to wait for awhile.

My labs are hoovering right around the normal levels, and my doctor told me it was ok for me to wait until fall, or later, for a biopsy, and treatment.

Maybe by then the Protease Inhibitors will be added to the Interferon/Riba treatment, increasing the SVR [sustained viral responce] rates.

I like the idea, because if Im going to go through a full year of TX, I want the best chance possible of clearing.

You need to keep copys of all his labwork and any medical info.

Keep it in a folder someplace handy.

That way you all can follow his progression.

Diet is very important.

No ALCOHOL. Cut back on sugar, and salt. Cut back on iron rich foods [red meat, organ meat, fried foods].

Hi Selina

A biopsy is pretty important to find out how much liver damage there is.

Its up to you all, and your doctor, if he needs to have one.

I think I have had HCV since at least the 1970's, so I am courious how damaged I am, so I will probably have one.

Most everyone who has had it done says that it is nothing, very quick, and painless.

There is the rare exception.

Im nervous about it, but I think I will be fine.

This whole HCV thing is scarey, but we can do it.

How old is your husband??? And, absolutely, push for the biopsy!!! An ultra sound does not really give them the best picture of what is going on.... A CT Scan is much more preferred. Also, when I first began this journey of treatment back in 2004/2005 - it wasn't until that biopsy that the real truth was exposed!!! Also, at this point, your husband should be referred to a Hepatologist or a Gastro at this point.... The regular medical doctor does not have the background to know all about the liver diseases.Just my advice (and big mouth)Gloria

My husband has been diagnosed with HCV. We have had the ultrasound and extra blood work that his regular medical doctor did originally. The ultrasound was over his whole abdomen, spleen, kidneys, as well as the liver. They said everything was good. The only thing that showed in his blood work was that he is positive for the virus. The orgens all looked good. Our appointment is tomorrow and I wanted to know if there were any questions we should ask or if we need to push for the biopsy. They don't think because of the ulrasound results that he needs a biopsy. What adviCe can you all give me? Thanks so much!

AGAIN - no!! But then again, I doubt that any Dr. will treat without a biopsy.. It's the only way to know how much of the liver has been damaged.Gloria

Thanks so much for the info! I have been reading up and learning all I can. He is going to ask to start treatment asap, without the biopsy. Is that ok this early? We just want to get him as healthy as possible, asap. Thanks,

Tell your husband and daughter to grow up and stop the teasing...otherwise the trip is cancelled...or better yet...leave them home and you and go alone....be serious...your daughter is 27...and your husband need to stop!

Help! We are going on our very first vacation in May to Universal Orlando. My son, is 20 yrs old. I have a daughter - 27. The problem - my hus and daughter are still not into dealing with . They cause him to have meltdowns frequently. My hus teases all the time and doesn't like to listen when talks about the books he writes. My daughter is constantly telling him to be quiet. Now, I'm thinking I was in dreamworld thinking we could take a vac. I'm afraid they'll be constantly fighting cramped in one room, and I don't want this to be a stressful ordeal. I'm ready to cancel! Should I? Should I see if we can possibly get a second hotel room at this late date? Also - does Universal have any special things for someone with ASD? Like a shorter line? has NO patience! Thanks...... .....Sara

Yes, there are express passes you can buy for Universal, where you can skip the regular line. Or they are free if you stay on Universal properties. I wouldn't worry about the hotel, you will not be in the room much at all. Also, if your husband is getting annoying, you and your son can go one way, husband and daughter go another way and meet up later. Everyone will not want to see the same shows or rides anyway. Don't let it be stressful for you.

I know many amusement parks have special things for special needs kids where you can basically reserve your spot in line. You still have to wait, but you don't have to wait in line at all. So you can go grab a bite to eat, maybe do another ride with no line, and get to the ride your waiting for in time. Now I am not sure if this work with special needs young adults but I would be willing to imagine it would. If it doesn't just pretend is a but more severe then he really is, like use the word autism instead of asperger's, etc., not exactly honest but if you know he needs this do it.

I honestly would think about getting a second hotel room. A vacation just won't be fun if your constantly at each others throughts (trust me I have done that vacation a bit before with me and my stepdad). Has he ever been to a smaller amusement park, that might be a good idea for practice. There are smaller amusement parks all over America that you might want to try going to first. But beyond all that, I am sure he will have a lot of fun if he is just doesn't fight.

P.S. One good thing my mom did, almost as much for her sake as mine, was go with me one day without my stepdad and stepsis. It sounds like you have a really good relationship and there is all sorts of stuff to go do in Orlando (water parks are especcially fun).
