Guest guest
Hello- In the State where I live, we have Occupational Health Clinical Centers scattered across the state that are affiliated with one of the state healthcare facilities. We are so fortunate to have a wonderful doc running our local branch who is a major advocate for the injured worker. He has an industrial hygenist on staff who does everything from compliance inspections to putting the team together to address the problem. I am sure you can appreciate the resistance he must receive from local industry. But for those of us " in the know " , the clinic is the way to go as it seems they have the clout/take action/get results by lighting a fire under the governing bodies tails...such as OSHA. I have a relative who was being slowly poisoned with duct work cleaners while working at a bank and she also turned to her state occupational health clinic for some help. So they truly have great value to the injured or potentially injured worker. Quite often they go into that workplace and do or oversee the inpections, coordinate all the testing such as voc's/airborne/toxicology,etc while also conducting in-depth employee interviews that become collective credible medical/legal evidence to force an investigation. With our local clinic, that is one of the things they do best. In addition, our local Clinic offers support groups so a lot of us know each other and each other's stories. And we are undyingly grateful to the doc running this clinic who has won the disability cases for just about all of us...everything from providing medical documentation to testifying. He is an amazing man and very much the target from industries not wanting to do the right thing. Many clinics know the proper way to slowly guide a person with their job issues and how to pull them out of work, if necessary. The reason I mention this is cause I simply quit my job, which did NOT NOT NOT help my case at all. It was before I knew about the clinic and didn't know what I was doing at the point in time. Clinics know how to pull the worker in and out of the workplace to provide a documented medical pattern to show the ebb and flow of that person's illnesses/symptoms in relation to being in their workplace environment. In english..the worker goes back to work and gets sicker...pulls them out they stay home and symptoms improve...back to work sicker..home=improved. Really is that simple but the pattern speaks volumes. Not sure if your state has such an organization or program but may perhaps be an avenue worth exploring. Or at least perhaps going in the direction of an industrial hygenist with the clout to open an investigation. Maybe AOEC (Assocation of Occupational and Environmental Clinics) may be of help as they do have a state by state listing on their website: http://www.aoec.org/ My heart goes out to you with the position that you are in and hope that you plow forward and don't give up. It's such a catch 22 that we are so sick and don't have the energy to put into a battle but that's quite often exactly what many of us must do. Please let us know how you are doing as you move forward. Please note that I have no financial or vested interest in any person, place, object or anything else mentioned in this posting. Kathy --------------------------------------------------------------- At my workplace I am getting sick daily. By the end of each week I am sicker and most weekends I spend trying to feel better....snip.. The report said they didn't see anything in the outside vents and air quality was in normal range. When my complaint came in OSHA took the report given by my employer on face value and didn't do any further investigation...snip...
Guest guest
re: the infection, you can buy a sinupulse and start cleaning your sinuses with saline water, gargle with a little apple cider vinegar to clean your throat and then salt/water to disinfect, as often as possible. this saved me from pneumonia/bronchitis in the early stages of my toxic exposure. of course, there is also the neti pot and adult ear syringes for this cleaning process, but the sinupulse machine ($80) is fabulous. Guest guest
I worked for a federal agency (hospital), developed MCS over a 12-year period. My options: they tried to make 'reasonable accommodation' by moving me to a different area, but that did not make a difference. What it amounted to is that I continued to work there by choice for financial reasons also (was in my 60s & other health problems) when I could not get another job. I took early retirement a few years ago. ....Corky ________________________________ From: Todd ljtcwt4653@...  At my workplace I am getting sick daily. Guest guest
, Although I personally have not had this kind of experience, several people who have have written chapters in Shoemaker's Surviving Mold, available at Surviving Mold.com That will give you some ideas. Depending upon where you live, you could get suggestions from professionals with litigation experience. You'll also need a physician to do the kind of testing which demonstrates your reactivity to something in the air at the workplace. Again, Shoemaker's book will give you a good idea of how to proceed.
