Guest guest
On Friday night had her first sleepover! It was a classmates 8th birthday party and all the 3rd grade girls in their class were invited! has been to her party the last 2 years, and I know the mom well. . .it was a huge success! About 7 girls spent the night, and from all reports it went very well. As I predicted (and advised the mom), when things got pretty raucous (pillow fight) it was who had the hardest time settling down, but they watched movies, ate popcorn, played in the girl's newly constucted playhouse and had pancakes for breakfast! It sounds like it was an overall success, and had a blast! She feels quite grown up, to have been to a slumber party, and I was pleased that she held her own in the dressing, eating, remembering to use the bathroom and generally behaving herself arenas. It's exactly the kind of thing I was hoping for when I fought so hard for inclusion during her first grade year. Now these girls are really her friends, and like her for exactly who she is. . . 3 days a week, on my early school mornings, I drop her off at the home of a different classmate, and she walks to school with this girl, her mom, and about 8 other neighborhood kids. What a good year we're having! I just wanted to share the good news. Casey
