I have trouble with the plastic case on laptops. I bought a Dell aluminum cased

one which was fine but I have to replace it and need to spend less.

Has anyone used Acer? Costco has a sale, its got a plastic case, should I try

it?

Thanks! Surella

Hi Surbella-

As a person w/MCS, I was dreading replacing my throughly offgassed 10 year old

desktop wth my now 2 month old laptop. In my case, I can't believe how easy the

whole thing was, which is thrilling for me to say..lol..

Last summer my preferred configuration was really expensive so I just waited and

waited. Around the beginning of this year, technology advanced enough so that

my configuration was starting to come down in pricing. A well known electronics

store starting stocking a similar config but even on sale, still too much so

kept looking. Suddenly two months ago an almost identical match to my preferred

config was on mega sale at one of the wholesale clubs. So I grabbed one real

fast.

I prepared myself for the anticipated long drawn out offgassing that I must do

with most electronics yet was at ease cause still had the old desktop I could

limp along with while doing an offgassing procedure on the laptop. So for

however long it took, I still at least has access to a computer. Yet miracle of

all miracles, this laptop was fine by day 2 and I was actually able to set it up

in my office area. One of those mini but feels huge MCS victories. Funny,

actually have a harder time offgassing my battery backups than I did this

laptop. Makes sense as with anything electrical including autos, I suspect that

a lot has to do with not only the plastics but the coatings typically used on

wiring and what country they were manufactured in.

Anyway, I am so happy with my laptop and how easy the whole eviron thing has

been with it. I also feel such a huge EMF difference between the old CRT

desktop vs this new LED laptop. Can spend hours on this laptop without the

whole EMF thing I use to get with the desktop after only minutes. Another one

of those mini MCS victories that means so much.

Anyway, Toxic Times (CIIN) has a classifieds section and perhaps there may be an

interest in a company who sells " safe " computers. Although their configurations

don't seem to be the most current technology, their website presents

shielded/radiation/chem free computers. Perhaps a trade off worth considering:

Please note that I have no financial or vested interest in any person, place,

object or anything else mentioned in this posting.
