Guest guest
the sprouts on top are those the sunnies or the peas in the bigger tray on the left. Tje leaves are such an attractive shape and will look good. I sort of think it may be the peas as I saw one on line someplace where they had a soup and had some green on it (not like sprouts though but more like clipped off leaves and stem and think they were sunnies or peas. Was attractive.   I have ordered my coir, Melody. Only one block until I see how it goes and got some kelp/seaweed fertilizer. Do you put that in your sunnies and peas or not? In your microgreens? And how is that flax in the paper plates doing? See any sprouts yet? They had a couple kinds of coir as one was dry and loose. I thought one brick would give me all I needed for some time. I'll break or saw some off and rehydrate it. Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Tuesday, April 3, 2012 1:37 PM Subject: Sprouting in the dark & greening up at the same time  Hi All. Because I'm now growing microgreens AND sprouting, I want everything to be done on my living room sprouting shelf. Because my newly made sunnies and pea shoots have to be initially in the dark for a few days I found an easy solution (made even easier since I made this video earlier today). As you will see in the video, I have some in the dark and on top of the shelf I have the sunnies and pea shoots. I re-designed it after making this video. Now ALL my sunnies and pea shoots are sunning on the top shelf and the bottom shelves are in the dark with newly seeded sunnies and pea shoots. Works just fine. So this is the video I made earlier today. You'll see what I mean. And I think I'm going to put my Sproutgarden right next to the shelves so I'll have everything in one neat garden spot. And was absolutely right about the Flax growing on paper towels on plates. They dried up. So I did a brand new batch in coir. Melody
Guest guest
Carolyn: The tray on the left are all sunnies. Sprouting really nicely. The smaller trays that are sprouting are the pea shoots. The ones that are now covered and are in the dark are trays of both sunnies and pea shoots. These shoots really shoot. And the flax on the paper plates, (as I said in the video), well was spot on. She knows her sprouting. They dried up. So (look at the video again), I put some coir on a paper plate and added some flax seeds and now they are in the dark too. They will take A LONG TIME to germinate but who cares. I will then have a bit of flax in my diet. lol Take care, Melody
