Guest guest
Cough medicine has a lot of sugar or honey in it and also alcohol. My grandmother died of cirrhosis of the liver. She never drank a day of her life, but she would carry her bottle of cough medicine everywhere with her in a little brown bag. She would drink some of it at church. Just whenever she was feeling like coughing. Could be genetic but ...... I think she would die allover again to think that alcohol killed her or had something to do with her death. She would forget taking medications at end and her kids would argue with her telling her she already had that medicine. She did a bit of doctor shopping too.. She had several. I really don't think she realized what she was doing. My other Grandma, if she wanted her beer, she got it. But I don't remember her taking much medication at all. I am not sure if it was a heart attack or cancer that took her. She was a feisty lady, under 5ft tall and had her guns over every door. She'd pull on galoshes (:???) and grab a gun and a flashlight if needed, and take off in the woods by herself to follow the dogs braying to shoot whatever they had treed.   I found out later that it was a log cabin she lived in. I had slept up stairs and it had a door in the roof on one side. Guess we could have told then it was a log cabin but it had this brick roll stuff on the outside. Ithnk perhaps the kitchen and side porches were built on. The living room/bedroom was the front room of the house and we'd sit at night out on the rocking chairs and it was really dark out there. She would tell us stories about black panthers and bears. She and her husband used to go after bear meat. l My mother's mother, the other one with the cough medicine was much more tame and wouldn't think of taking off in the hills like that. She didn't want to sit in a car once because the front was red. It was too bright for old people. Grandpa said, " You can sit in the back where it is black if you want, but I'm sitting up here where it is red. "  She sat in front. They each grew vegetables in the garden and my little grandma and her husband grew some feed for a horse as well. Might have had a cow once but now when I knew them. That grandma was married about 6 times, twice to my grandpa who was finally the last one. One was a country musician who moved around a lot. Married him at 16 I think.  Grandpa didn't like snakes so grandma would kill any that got in the yard (poisonous ones). She had a visiion of something to come on two occasions and we always thought she had some Native American blood as well as the German she also had.  She didn't have a corn cob pipe but she rolled her own for many years.    Just a little journey on a side path. All because of alcohol and sugar. LOL   Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Tuesday, April 3, 2012 12:37 PM Subject: Surprising jump  I'm now wondering if it had anything to do with the cough medicine I was living on literally every 6 hours for the past 2 months! Oh well will see what happens with the new stuff, Had a nice green smoothie of spinach, 2 apples, 2 pears, SuperGreenFood, flax, Miralax(prescribed by doctor), ice and about 8 oz of water as it was SO THICK! Very tasty Now going to enjoy a bowl of lentil sprouts with some of a blend from Sproutpeople (and I can never remember the name of theirs...)
