Guest guest
Hello Sprouters I happen to plant too many black oil sunflower seeds (in organic Ocean Forest Soil) and had too many ready to eat at one time. I harvested 3 quarters of them and put them in a green container that is supposed to extend the life of vegies (saw it on tv and at walgreens). This left me with a patch about 4 inches by 4 inches. So I cut that part out of the Sprout Master I use for soil medium sprouts and put this patch of grown sunnies, soil and all in a tall plastic container I usually put the home made bread in. There were enough roots in the soil to keep it intact. This was 3 days ago. I noticed today, that the sunnies in the fridge are still growing! So I got to thinking, for those of us that live in very hot places (or those without a/c) is it possible to actually grow sprouts in the fridge during the terribly hot months? No doubt it would take much, much longer. But it is dark in there until the door is opened and when it comes time to green, may be rig the indoor fridge light to stay on for the day to green things up a bit. It is a small wattage bulb. Any way, I was wondering if anyone has tried this, maybe using an old fridge that can be set on the least cool setting. Or even a small apartment or college room size fridge for this purpose? Thanks, Happily Sprouting Diane
