Guest guest
It was a long time before she would ever eat sprouts. She kept saying she didn't like the texture. But now, if she makes a sandwich, there had better be sprouts. So, I always have sunnies and peas shoots in the kitchen window. Plus French Garden Mix in the fridge, just for her. Well not just for her, but you know what I mean. ew I don't ROFL Re: Milestone I'll tell you what EW's wife said to him when he asked her " Did you ever think you'd be able to put up with me this long? " She said " And deprive myself of a man who sprouts????? " rofl rofl rofl. Mel -
Guest guest
That IS horrible! It reminds me of my own situation....we grow for a farmer's market (regular produce) and my husband usually sells everything and then I have to go to the grocery store to buy veges!!! Arrgghhh Donna ________________________________ To: sproutpeople Sent: Monday, July 30, 2012 7:41 AM Subject: Re: Milestone  Well!!! I have been without any kind of sprouts in my house for 5 days. They all went bad on me. I have 7 new batches growing and god knows how they will turn out. This has been the hardest thing for me. 5 days with no sprouts? Every time I thought it would be a good batch, they became wilted and smelled and I tossed them. Right now I have 5 brand new trays started and 3 (just starting to sprout.) I think I just might get lucky. What I'm now doing is rinsing 3 or 4 times and making sure I get ALL the excess water out. Then I restack them. Today is much cooler but VERY humid. And when I walked into breakfast this morning (remember no sprouts for the previous 4 days), they all looked at me and shouted " Again??? No sprouts again?? " I said 'What do you want from me, I had to go to the store and BUY SPRING MIX!! " I haven't had to buy my own fixings for salads for almost 5 years now. They all burst out laughing when I said " Can you imagine? I had to PAY for Spring Mix? " Well, that got a good laugh. I'm hoping that these new batches I put up will yield SOMETHING. This is going to be a very long very LONELY sprout summer. lol Melody > > It was a long time before she would ever eat sprouts. She kept saying she didn't like the texture. Guest guest
I finally got a dehydrator ordered. Went to Bed Bath & Beyond. had to order for me. it is a Nesco. I got the 20% off plus they gave me a manager's special of no shipping cost for getting it then.  so will be here within 2 weeks.  I was hoping to find one less expensive but I think it will be worth it. I wanted to dry rest of my herbs and replant again in my AG's. I went to Dollar General today and got 3 big plastic planters in white. I got 2 small square ones in white too and then 2 smaller ones with a little water containment in the bottom and they were terracotta. (however that is spelled).  I should be able to get my lemon tree replanted in one of the big ones. I will have to drill holes in the bottoms of all except the smallest 2. I will need some large stones or bronen clay pots too, or river stones to have water but not drown the roots.I want to get some baby lettuces and eggplant, etc. planted in some of them and to replant what I have that has to be done. I got some of Renne's Garden for container plants and the seeds are for small plants. I am hoping they do well. I don't know whether to wait until September or to plant before then. We plan to be away a few days the end of August and would like to have been away this week and next butg didn't happen. Now not sure. So don't know if I should wait until I get back for everything. Hate to wait too long. I do have 2 tomatoes in the AG and they are only about 4 " tall so they will be there. I am putting in about 3 gallons of distilled water in the AG's each week now and it is using it faster than before. First couple of weeks it was 2 weeks but now it is days and I have to put more water in. May start using Spring or filtered water if we can figure out what filters to use.  I have been lazy about putting sprouts out. I think we have it cool enough inside to grow them. I saw the neatest roll up with a bit of fish or chicken in it and celery sticks and a little cabbage and rice and sprouts and I think they were pea sprouts and rolled in chard. Looked really pretty. Some called for smoked salmon or for sushi with the other things. And might have had some sauce. One thing I saw had some hummus and I think it had avocado mixed with a bit of mayo too. then it was all rolled up and had cheese in there too. I think I'd like a tortilla around it all but they used chard. I don't think I like chard.   Carolyn Wilkerson  ________________________________ To: sproutpeople Sent: Monday, July 30, 2012 5:31 PM Subject: Re: Milestone  Funny!!!
