Guest guest
Mel, Time to do the first cutting of your pea shoots. ew I finally got it right. Had so many trays of sunnies and pea shoots!!! Well, after much experimenting with various things to green up my sprouts, I found I had so many trays that needed direct sunlight, as opposed to the sproutgarden trays that need indirect sunlight, and because I know I'll be sprouting up a sunflower and pea shoot storm from now on, I had to come up with a place that would get all the sunshine and a place where I could fit ALL of my trays. And I got my kitchen back and I can now put my Vitamix back where it belonged. Hello Banana Ice cream vitamix style. The beauty of doing what I did is that I can have the microgreens covered and in the dark while they get the roots dug in, and then I can just take off any covering and have them SUN up!!! I can fit ALL of my trays, even the super one with the humidity dome. Here you go!! And I'm not changing it any more. This works for me. lol Melody Take a look. And this is it for me. Guest guest
Yes, I did it today.; Alan had a doctor appointment and our doctor LOVES sprouts. So today I brought a mixture of my brassicas and some sunnies and the pea shoots. He had NEVER had sunnies and pea shoots and I showed his staff the video of my sprouts and they all went ooooh and aaah. I'm getting the word out. lol Melody > > Mel, > Time to do the first cutting of your pea shoots. > ew > > I finally got it right. Guest guest
Let's hear it for Sunflower Oil. I've never used that myself. I have used Safflower oil. I don't think I've ever even seen sunflower oil anywhere. But I do have extra virgin coconut oil in my house and I use extra virgin olive oil for sauteeing, and other things. And in my greens, with garlic, etc. Oh My!!! I think if I started to cook like this when I was 25, I would never have reached 300 lbs. All those twinkies and ding dongs and hostess ho ho's. lol Melody
Guest guest
I have seen sunflower oil in some other mixtures of oil, and coconut oil as well, but don't recall if I've had any of them. I am going to check out coconut oil.  I have seen Safflower oil but haven't used any of it. I did find out tonight that EVO can take to about 200 degrees before it starts to break down and start getting rancid. Grape seed oil can go to 400 before it starts to break down and begins to become rancid. Peanut oil has a high smoke level but then adds flavor to product and there are so many people allergic to peanuts so not that great to use because of the allergies.
