Don't know filler but it was from compounding pharmacy recommended by that doc who is the big proponent for it's use...Bihari?? foxhillers@... wrote: What were your expectations? Guest guest
I took LDN the first year I was sick back in 1991-2. I recovered after a year, although I was taking twice a week mega-vitamin drips from another doctor. So I don't know which if any (or both?) helped. After being well for a year I relapsed. Tried LDN again, and the vitamin drips (different doctors -- I'd moved), and they neither did any good. Sick ever since, for 13-years. michael

Guest guest
The noticeable benefit is in the blood tests. Without it ( it takes 3 months to work), I have very few lymphocytes (T cells and CD8s), and the ones I had were incompetant. The tests for them are very specific. I was sick all the time without it. Not sick much with it. Dr Bihari is unavailable these, days, unfortunately. He has now referred me to Dr Ehrlich in NYC. I went to him on Friday and he took many vials of blood. He seemed to be very bright and a caring individual. He spent a lot of time with me, and listened. I will see what he decided to change for me on a follow up based on my results. I take it because I have CFIDS and FM with alot of neuro and cognitive problems and I thought it might help. It has increased a sense of well-being for me. Im not sure if it has had any long term positive effects, but I continue to take it b/c its inexpensive (generic 50 mg.pills diluted with 50 cc. of water, shaken and refrig.)and it hasnt caused me any harm. I started by taking the capsules made up by a compounding pharmacy but after 6 months decided to try the solution. Zuzu

Guest guest
Hi Mark..I have heard that Naltrexone has had some success in individuals who that have stimulatory deficiencies, who tend to have high levels of beta-endorphins in their CNS. Evidently if blocks the action of endogenous opioids (those we produce on our own) as well as introduced opioids like heroin. The action is blocked at the site of reception, and the body compensates for this blockage by raising the production level of endorphins that benefit the persons immune profile. It is showing benefit in those persons who " self-stimulate " often, but it is contraindicated in those with liver or kidney damage, so I would imagine someone with hepatitis would have to be closely monitored should it be prescribed for them. ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour

Guest guest
Thanks, . I saw a new doctor today who is suggesting 3mg of naltrexone. I read where it can take up to 3 months for it to work, and it is important that it be taken at night, between 9pm and 3am, because it is supposed to cause an increase in beta-endorphins, and it has to be taken at that hour to do so. Did you take it at night for at least three months? If you don't want to take the time to answer, I understand. If you do answer, though, it would be helpful to me. Guest guest
Dear So far back now I'm a little hazy on the details but I'm sure I took it at night before bed but I'm not sure that I went 3 months. I had real problems getting it formulated at the right strength, pharmacies wouldn't touch it so I ended up doing it myself, grinding it in a mortar and pestle and putting it into capsules. Guest guest
Another issue with LDN is the use of a fast release, appropriate, filler. Skip Lenz at _www.skipspharmacy.com_ (http://www.skipspharmacy.com) has more experience than any other pharmacist at compounding LDN and is open to questions and etc. from potential users as well as other pharmacists and docs. McCandless, MD, recommends at least a six month LDN trial. Guest guest
LDN is working for many as an aqueous solution. A compounding pharmacy can also provide that form of LDN to avoid fillers used to make caps that can cause some folks some problems.
