Guest guest
Good program - thanks. I saw a segment on a TV news show recently featuring a (high) rooftop grower in NY. It was pretty sophisticated, and they were using some kind of soil like the Brooklyn Grange guy. They were also literally supplying food to people within blocks. In this case I remember some discussion about the expense to set up and reinforcements that had to be made for the weight...but it was fresh! Surprisingly, here in Little Rock there aren't many sources for locally grown food - mostly one Whole Foods market and an occasional roadside stand. Too much history of BBQ and fried catfish, and little interest in healthier eating. Fresh vegetables close to home were a lot easier to find in California. The Eat To Live eating program I'm looking at is big on using locally grown in season and avoiding buying food trucked across the country. Makes sense. At least now I have some sprouts. Guest guest
I think the idea is fabulous. I had viewed the video with the guy who grows on rooftops. I remember him grabbing the head of lettuce and all these roots were being pulled out. Can you imagine how healthy we would all be if we all could grow stuff on our roof tops? Oh the possibilities. I'm just happy to be able to do my greens and my sporouts. Till the end of time!!! lol Melody > > You guys might be interested in this show. Guest guest
I wonder how the rooftop vertical garden is doing. I'm sure the temperature there is even more hot than in most homes. Wonder what he is doing to cool his crops up there. Carolyn Wilkerson  ________________________________ To: sproutpeople Sent: Sunday, July 8, 2012 12:56 PM Subject: Re: Garden show  I think the idea is fabulous. Guest guest
Carolyn, I listen to Norton also. The only thing I can figure out is there somehow appeared a couple of spaces in the address when I posted the link before. I tried it successfully using www.easygarden.towergarden.com The Tower Garden is used more by people in apartments and condos that have a porch or balcony and people with little yard space.
