Guest guest
An experienced Moldie friend recently told me about a potentially useful trick to decontaminate our stuff from mold toxins. This involves taking the stuff up to a high altitude for a short period of time, then bringing it back down. Apparently items release toxins more readily at a low barometric pressure (which is what is present at high altitude). If more of the toxins are released when an item is at a high altitude, then they will be less bothersome later on. I've since tried this a couple of times with my RV and have found it impressively powerful and quite useful. At altitude, the RV feels HORRIBLE. Just standing next to it has an unbelievably big effect on me. After a day or so back down at a lower altitude, it feels much better than it did before I took it up there. (I wash the bedding and sometimes all the hard surfaces with water afterward, but I don't do anything else.) I've found that scattered objects (e.g. contaminated clothing) seem to benefit from a trip up to altitude as well. Thus far, I've found benefit from spending a night or two at a moderately high altitude (7000 feet) and a couple of hours at a higher altitude (8500 feet). Going from sea level to 8500 feet had a HUGELY noticeable effect. But even 4000 feet to 7000 feet seemed to have benefit. Has anyone noticed this happening themselves? Would anyone be willing to try it to see if you get the same effect that I have? If so, please let me know! Best,
