Guest guest
Hi , A natural safer substitute for prednisone is boswellia extract.Kerry Bone, the herbalist who writes in Dr. 's newsletter mentioned it in the April 1999 issue, It is an anti inflammatoty for both prevention and relief of inflammatiom without the ulcerative effects of Steroids. There are numerous citations for scientific/medical articles on this including:' Singh GB, et al, Pharmacology of an extract of Salai guggal ex-Boswellia serrata, a new non-steroidal anti inflammatory agent. Agents and Actions 1986;18(3-4):407-412 Sharma ML, et al Effect of salai guggal ex-Boswellia serrata on cellularand humoral immune response and leucocyte migration, Agents and Actions1988;241(1-2):161-164 It has been used to prevent and treat brain swelling before and after brain surgery Winkling M et al, Boswellic Acid as an Inhibitor of Perifocal Edema in Malignant Glioma in Man Journal of Neurooncology, 1996;30(2):39 It was found to have very low toxicity and caused no adverse effects after chronic administration Singh GB et al. Toxicity and safetyevaluation of boswellic acids, Phytomedicine 1996;3(1):87-90 Recommended dosage is 200 to 400 mg of Boswellia extract, three times a day. This extract should be standardized to have a boswellic-acid content of about 60% Arnold
Guest guest
Hope you have better luck with the hyperbarics than we did, that is when we saw our first seizure... I know that some say that it helps to keep them at bay, but in our case it brought them out. We have since learned that if the child is not able to detox on their own, hbot can push toxins in deeper. > > > > Has anyone had success with seizure control using steroids? If so what side effects and how long was your child on them > > >

Guest guest
I didn't know steroids lowered the immune system!! Tristen has been on steroids for the first time because of hives for the past 10 days and she has now been home sick the past 2 days. If not better by tomorrow I'm taking her into the pedi. Wish I would have known this before. And although we can't iscolate them from every situation..knowing the struggles and how he is right niw I would agree that you go with your instinct instead of risking a setback in his recovery and skip it this time! Guest guest
Yep. Would do too. Macey gets atelectasis often after anesthesia. She neefs Decadron after depending on the length of time. The older she got we would have an incentive spirometer at the beside the minute she woke up and did it hourly while awske for 3 or so days. Guest guest
Can anyone tall me the harm that steroids does to us mold sufferers? I am hospitalized right now and have a steroid doctor taking care of me. Steroids do nothing but harm to me and he doesn't,t get or won,t even do research on the subject. I just fired him, but what harm do the steroids do?
Guest guest
You may want to consult with Dr. Shoemaker or contact them via the Surviving Mold website (www.survivingmold.com). P 68 of his book, Surviving Mold states " one reason that I've used the expression 'giving cortisol to these patients is like throwing gasoline on the fire,' is that extra cortisol taken by mouth in the form of prednisone or hydrocortisone or some other substance like that can cause a new kind of negative feedback superimposed on a dysregulated system, so that the extra cortisol suppresses the ACTH, prevents it from normal functioning and not uncommonly, the feedback-controlled rise of ACTH, respoinding to low cortisol, becomes damaged. And the ACTH is the very last line of defense against inflammation and not it is shot. These are some of the most desperately ill people that I see and often it was the actions of well-meaning physicians using prednisone or hydrocortisone that converted the ilness from being a minor problem to being disabling. " Hope that helps... Debbie > > Can anyone tall me the harm that steroids does to us mold sufferers? I am hospitalized right now and have a steroid doctor taking care of me. Guest guest
This is why when I went to the Fibro and Fatigue Center and they gave me hydrocortisone....I got so ill. I can vouch for this 200%. I was starting to heal and on the road to recovery. I took the hydorcortisone they gave me and was fine for one day, then I ended up in bed for the next 7 days with a high fever... sore throat that wouldn't abate from every traditional method I used normally. I got off it on my own. I knew that the hydorcortisone was the only thing that could possibly make me ill. I was so ill the next three weeks..............trying to recover. They told me to go back to work or I would never go back to work....They didn't believe I was so ill from all they gave me. They wouldn't even let me use my sick days...........and I had 100 of them.. Kathi\\\ Re: [] Re: Steroids Thank you I did not have the text from Shoemakers book to quote it .
