If you are allergic to cats, shampooing them should take care of that since it

is the dander that is the problem and the dander is the flakes of saliva that

dries and comes off their body that one is allergic to. I've never had to

shampoo a cat until my current one developed dandruff, so I give her a sponge

bath once a week. I wear a coat so as not to get accidentally scratched. I use

warm water with baking soda in it and a small amt of ph balanced shampoo/such as

baby shampoo, not much shampoo is necessary if you put baking soda in the water.

You don't want much soap so you don't need to rinse so much. Just holding cat

securely, sponge coat off with slightly soapy water, then sponge off with plain

water. You can start off with very little water and very short bath until cat

gets used to it. Maybe start off with just moist cloth wiping down, then each

time let sponge get a little more damp so you don't scare cat with something so

sudden not used to.
