Guest guest
Hi Everybody So here is my experiment with wheat grass. I have been growing wheat grass on the STG mats or Baby Blanket for some time. I decided to switch to soil to see if there was a difference. I got the Happy Frog Organic Potting Soil from our local mom and pop nursery. I used about 2 inches of soil in one of those 11x21 trays. I use 2 inches as I try to get a second cutting of the grass, I could probably use 3 inches) Soaked the berries for 12 hours and rinse and drained until they developed little roots. Spread the berries out on the preswatered soil and covered it with another tray, set it on a shelf in the kitchen away from the light. After a few days the berries started to send up their shoots. Once they were about 2 inches high, I moved the tray outdoors onto a covered porch, facing south but no direct sunlight due to the eave. Light is reflected off the building to our south. (Phoenix, Az area) The wheat grass, much to my surprise, no amazement, no, more like total awe, the wheat grass grew twice as fast and thick using the Happy Frog organic soil as growing on the Sure to Grow Mats using organic sea kelp fertilizer. I looked at the area today, wondering where that new tray went that I had put out a few days ago. It should have only been a few inches high. This thing had shot up to about 6 inches. It was actually taller than the previous one growing on the sure to grow mat next to it. And thicker and greener. Wow. Why do I feel like I just reinvented the wheel! On the other hand, I just harvested a tray of organic brocolli, (which has always been very hard for me to grow for some reason,) growing on the Sure To Grow mats using the organic sea kelp fertilizer, and it is the best crop I have ever had. I had to use my self control no to eat the whole thing right there and then. Just thought I would pass this on.
