Guest guest
I have been through the files and can't find any specifics on how to use GT's Kombucha to develop a SCOBY. Could someone give me some guidance? Thanks,

Guest guest
, be sure to get GT's " original " raw, unflavored kombucha, not the " enlightened " version (which was changed after the alcohol scare). Some stores keep it in a separate cooler with a sign that you have to be 21 to purchase. > > > > > > I have been through the files and can't find any specifics on > > > how to use GT's Kombucha to develop a SCOBY. Guest guest
Hi Vicki - I used raw, unflavored " original " GT kombucha - however, it also says " enlightened " on the label. Hope it'll work. Thanks, ________________________________ To: original_kombucha Sent: Wednesday, July 25, 2012 4:30 PM Subject: Re: KT from Commercial Kombucha  , be sure to get GT's " original " raw, unflavored kombucha, not the " enlightened " version (which was changed after the alcohol scare). Guest guest
Mine said " enlightened " as well. I only know of two places who sell this and that's all they have. My brew turned out fine. Guest guest
Cover it with a cloth that allows air to pas (Viva paper towel for exemple) retain the paper towel with an elastic on a wide mouth jar (mason jar) and forget it for a while .. It will make a SCOBY eventually could take days or could take several weeks .. Depends but it will always make a SCOBY ________________________________ To: " original_kombucha " <original_kombucha > Sent: Thursday, July 26, 2012 1:21 PM Subject: Re: Re: KT from Commercial Kombucha  Hi Vicki - I used raw, unflavored " original " GT kombucha - however, it also says " enlightened " on the label. Guest guest
Timely topic. Bill, you said you had good results.Does that mean it will develop (with proper care) a healthy scoby that can be replicated? I ask that because when I went to brew a new batch,my scoby had developed what appears to be mold pockets on the surface. That has me more than a little concerned.I have tried to source a scoby here in the Philippines to no avail.I could however get a bottle of GT's with the next family member who comes to visit. Very interested to hear if this is a reliable method of growing a replacement scoby.I am wuite sure that it would, but it would just take a little longer to brew up. Best! Guest guest
Thanks Lori - yes, it turned into quite the " quest " , trying to find some. The GT website sent me on numerous wild goose chases before I finally lucked out! Cheers, ________________________________ To: original_kombucha Sent: Thursday, July 26, 2012 3:48 PM Subject: Re: Re: KT from Commercial Kombucha  Mine said " enlightened " as well. Guest guest
The GT website didn't even list the two stores which do sell it. It said there was none in my area.
