Guest guest
I suspect it is more common in the US. Perhaps because the law allows it and the numbers involved make it easier than in many other countries. But many autistic kids - especially those with aspergers - have successfully gone through public education. It really does depend on the kid and the school as to what is the best solution. When it comes to some schools - public and private- home schooling is a good option for everyone. As someone else observed, $4,000 is fairly cheap for a private school. But, unfortunately, when it comes to private schools, you don't always get what you pay for. On 7/08/2012 8:24 AM, Iliana Swartz wrote:  I'm just curious, is it very common for parents to homeschool their Autistic children? I was homeschooled (I'm not autistic) and I know there's a lot of people who think homeschoolers are completely unsocialized and I can see how people would think that would be a bad place for a child with social difficulties to be. But also they could work at a good pace/schedule for the child. Is it easy to do? In the way of curriculum/laws. (I'm majoring in special ed/elem. ed and want to teach Autistic kids.) I don't belong to the Homeschool Legal Defense Association, but I think their website offers a breakdown of laws state by state also. Your state's department of education may have additional information. > > > > > > > > > As an aside, I think our schools in the area are starting back sometime mid-August. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > No virus found in this message.
