I make a few kinds of Kale chips in the dehydrator because then you get the

benefit of the live food too. They are just as good as made in the stove....but

the good stuff isn't destroyed/deactivated caused by the baking.

I HIGHLY recommend the Nesco food dehydrator as seen at

http://mealmasters.webs.com/apps/webstore/

I have an Excalibur big dehydrator, but I wanted a smaller unit for my RV...I

got the Nesco and ended up using it more than the Excalibur-just love it! Just

the right size, quiet, adjustable and efficient. I am actually considering

selling my Excalibur, as the Nesco fits my needs perfectly.

used it as such. It indicates that to dehydrate I should put the temp at 140 to

150 degrees. Now I no longer have the instructions so just in case I want to use

my Faberware to make kale chips instead of using my oven, can you estimate how

long it would take to make the kale chips.  Using the regular oven it's 300 for

20 minutes.

Don't think so. I eat my greens ever day. I eat a very healthy plant based diet

(including cooked kale). The kale chips are a treat. I don't eat them for their

nutrition benefit. I get that from my other greens which includes kale.

I'd rather use my money to buy broccoli seeds.

lol

those 2 old warings for so long that i can't remember from whence they

i never gave a second's thought to what the appropriate temperature for

dehydrating is.....thanks, terry.....peace, mary

than 115. I make kale, zucchini, sweet potato chips a lot they are yummy. I

use a nine tray Excalibur dehydrator because it heats evenly from back to front

.... Does a great job. The dehydrator is good to preserve food when you hit a

good sale or have a bumper crop ... I use it a lot.

there are all kinds of things out there to suit everyone's needs.....there are

two in our family and i don't do big lots of things like i did years ago so

being able to bring one, smaller dehydrator out to do a small lot of something

works well for us.....we're going to go get some kale and make kale

chips.....peace, mary

Hi there.

Thanks to all of you who responded to the dehydrating question. Today I brought

my ziplock bag full of kale chips to share with some friends.

Well, you should have seen the look on their faces. They HATED the kale chips.

So that was a bust.

Then, I went to another place and whole different story. They were fighting over

them.

So I guess it's a matter of taste. Some people love them and some actually hate

them.

Personally, I'd use them as a topping on my sprout salad. Gives a nice crunch.
