All you need is soap and water. Thieves adds nothing to the effectiveness of

cleaning. Neither does bleach or other chemicals, disinfectants, or deodorizers.

As far as cleaning goes, everyone seems to have forgotten the study done by 2

environmental scientists, and published in 2002 I think. They took common

household items that were contaminated with different types of spores and

mycotoxins and subjected them to different types of cleaning, each cleaning was

done 6 times. They then tested them again. Some cleaning worked a little, some

not very much at all. Just wiping down and vacuming will do not much at all. I

scrubbed and scrubbed and still managed to totally cross contaminate a new

building . Is it worth the risk of moving again and your health???

Im not taking anyting but my kids and the dog with me and I would rather not the

latter but dont know what to do..

I am trying to SAVE some things that are sentimental to us and store elsewhere.

Thats all. I get the point all too well and all to extreme as far as my husband

is concernd. I dontknow how many of you have dealt with this with families and

can imageine how difficult this is. I really appreacite supportive comments very

much. I am trying to get out of here the RIGHTest way I can as fast as I can

with two kids who own 4 animals and a relunctant husband. I need and most

greatefully apprecaiate all helpful information!

As for thieves, as long as you have new people come to this list they are most

likely going to ask.

I would imagine that some things that are antifungal just might kill spores

though other wise why would we ingest them in order to kill candida and other

yeast?

That said.. I AM NOT TAKINg ANY CHANCES AND IF ANY ONE HAS SUGEGESTIONS ABOUT

THE DOG I WOULD APPRECIATE IT!

Robin,

I can relate, it took me 8 months away from home seeing out of state

doctor specialists with my sick son, advice from 2 doc specialists, Dr.

Thrasher of this list, and an indoor air quality guy who also did

testing to convince my husband to leave the house, and then I had to do

all the work to find a new place.....I had asked him to get out as soon

as the toxicology work indicated and we were being told to leave, but I

was away and he couldn't figure out where to go (not rocket science, get

a motel room, but...), so when my other son's school finished up months

later I told him to drive half way to meet us on our drive back from dr.

rea's in dallas, not cause we needed to caravan home but in order to get

him and my other son out of that house.

now we are moving our stuff and I tell him to shower as soon as he gets

back from the old house and he raises a fuss, just really still doesn't

totally get it...

mostly we are storing our stuff, but I have given up on getting him to

leave his precious nonwashed backpack behind and a few other things, and

frankly in our case I don't really think it will make a difference, my

sick son has many issues, he doesn't get worse around more mold vs. less

as far as I can tell....and I am just not going to totally stress over

the threat of bringing some invisible mycos along, I encourage you to

try not to stress over it either, moving is stressful enuf as it is and

this worrying about cross contamination takes the stress way over the

top. Look at it this way, if you have picked a safer new place, then

your mold and related exposures will go down dramatically immediately

which has to be a good healthy thing, even if some cross contamination

does occur.

of course I am not a medical doctor or even an expert and I don't

" react " to mold so I may be dead dead wrong, but what I do know is that

the stress is poisonous!

Hang in there, SUe V.

Sue,

Oh do I so know how you feel! And I hear you.. there is only so much you can do.

Or go insane. Thanks so much for relating.:-)

Im dealing with a biotoxin soup with lyme, babesia and mold exposures as well as

most likely pretty bad pesticide exposures as a chlid.. Lots going on and coming

up. Also when the body gets out of balance, the microbes do to and stress will

effect that as well as the ability to detox. Its all of it.. but I am trying my

best to make the tranitional place as clean as can be without going insane and

ruining the relationship I have with my kids, even.

I can hound them about only so much. They are such troupers.. so going with the

flow here, losing so much for this experiment to get well.

I can shave my daughters hair or take her beloved pet away.. I can take

advantage of my sisters pool if the chlorine will help and wash the dog alot,

use austin airs, vacc and dust alot, wash alot.. change cars.. not take anything

with us that holds, traps dust. etc...

We may have to change houses again but maybe we wont. I can only control so

much.. remind me of this tomorrow...

The advice I received about my dog was take her to the groomer cut her hair and

have them bath her twice in an antifungal shampoo. I would imagine Nizoral would

work. You have to remember that when you take him from the groomer to the your

new residence the car must not be cross contaminated or all that work and money

you just spent will all be for not. The one thing I've learned is that you

ALWAYS have to think ahead, your main concern right now is to keep the mold

exposure to an absolute minimum.
