Guest guest
Personally I would remove the carpet piece by piece and put it in large plastic bags to take it outside. Spray it lightly with water to keep the dust down then I would remove the paneling as well. Wear a mask, have a fan to pull the air outside and plastic to seal the rest of the house from any dust that carry the mold spores. Get a GOOD dehumidifier then get rid of everything in the basement. That would be my first start. would you be so kind to send me any info or experiences that folks have had with this dual problem I have a moldy house plus chronic Lyme , I moved here 7 years ago and within 1 year my health failed me , I have yellow mold in cellar as well as the black that seems to look like spider webs and its coming upstairs, I have shag rug in one side of cellar , yikes who would put that down , and paneling , I only go don to do my wash as I get congested and get a headache ,
Guest guest
I did this myself, in my living room, dining room. I hired someone to do it asking them to be careful to not scatter dust and cut it up piece by piece but every time I went to check on how it was going, they were just ripping it up, so I let them go and did it myself and got migraines regularly until it was done, probably shouldn't have done it but people don't understand how dangerous things like this can be. Wear a good mask, do a little at a time if I were you. Get hlep if you can find it that will do it the way you ask. Jeff May, in this group, has a section in his book on finished basements, " My House is Killing Me " . I believe it is in that one. I would check that out and Carl Grimes book also on Healthy Habitats. Not positive I got the names of books exact but there sounds like there are alot of issues in your house right now that you need to take care of. > > > Personally I would remove the carpet piece by piece and put it in large > plastic bags to take it outside. Guest guest
I too have Chronic Lyme and I am for sure a patient with serious mold issues since childhood. It is a lot harder once you have both. I know that my doctor said to me that mold patients do really well with Glutathione and I have been having glutathione ivs and it is helping. But for me moving to high dessert where we now live has been the best thing for me. We live in Eastern Wa. After that it has been a very long battle. I only found out I had Lyme 4 years ago but I am now 60 and I have had it all my life! As a result the Lyme has created Congestive Heart failure. I came close to not making it this Jan. Therefore, I think that if possible reduce all your stress and move if you can. In our home that we bought 6 years ago. We removed everything- all rugs. Have someone else do it for you or wear a heavy mask, gloves, hair cap, etc. and take it all off and shower right after that if you have to be close to it. This mold does so much damage that one cannot recover from quite often. Our basement is bare but clean. We use a lot of air purifiers. We spray with colloidal silver and vinegar and alcohol mixture everywhere we can. We use fans a lot as well. It is an ongoing battle in our home better outside since it is quite dry. Dust is the problem we have here but it beats mold. cathy > > > Personally I would remove the carpet piece by piece and put it in large > plastic bags to take it outside.
