Tent living

Hi, i was wondering if anyone here has lived in a tent as a kind of bubble from

mould and mcs? I think i have to move again and im considering this option.

Would live in the tent and use the house facilities by day to hopefully work

from home, cook, shower etc. The house im going to is not mould effected but i

would need to be extremely carefull about cross contamination, probably take

only my ipad, phone and some basic supplements.

The people in the house have welcomed me to stay there though i havnt mentioned

camping there. They live in the bush so at least i could be outside again during

the day and the main living areas are tiled, not bedrroms though which have new

carpet. Im sad that ive cross contaminated my mums things and car and hope this

doesnt mean that she couldnt visit me at the new house. I really dont want to

have to leave her. This has all taken its toll on her so much, i hate to see

that ive made her so sad, and that maybe i wont be able to see her unless i can

decontaminate her car. She has bad lung issues, probably from mould, so i

wouldnt want to use anything strong in her car. I was thinking that maybe by

living in the tent she could at least visit me outside or inside the friends

house and that i could shower each night before going to my bubble tent.

I would like to hear from anyone whos done this and how extreme you were in

precautions to avoid cross contaminations. At least in a tiled house if i do

cross contaminate i might be able to deal with it by day by avoiding certain

furniture in the house which would be much easier than avoiding all carpeted

areas.

the floor of tents get wet from the ground. I would get a dome style that you

can pick up & move easily & do it at least daily.

I have lived in tents for years, and suggest a Shelter System 14 foot dome tent.

I have also lived in traditional tents, and know the ups and downs of most tent

situations. Have become an expert on tarps, shade cloth , stakes, and clips.

e-mail me off group and we can discuss or talk on the phone

Do you have land or do you camp in official sites?  I am curious about how this

works...

Thanks for any guidance about a possible future home for me...

Wasn't suggesting that I would have a " potential future home " on your

land...wasn't sure if I was clear.  Just wondering about the whole tent living

process and whether those who healthfully live this way camp or just live on

their own land.  Good thoughts, sally

Just want to second that request.

It's actually my dream to own a piece of land and live in a yurt on a platform.

I don't consider that a deprivation at all. Mongolians do it!

I now have land that belongs to my sister to live on, bt in the past I have

lived outside my own house, using the bathroom and kitchen, but that house was

not terribly bad. I lived i a field behind a friends house for a long time. I

also have camped in official sites, or just in wilderness areas. There are a lot

of people in NM who camp full time, moving when there 3 weeks are up to another

camp site. Living on land in a tent can be problamatic if the zoning does not

allow it, if neighbors are not close by you can usually get away with it. When I

lived outside my house in NM, my neighbors were very nice, and understood that I

had health problems.

I did it in my vehicle with the key in the ignition. If anyone showede up I

left... before my safety was compromised.

I have 2 dogs, so I usually have no security problems, but I went once by myself

because I was too sick to take care of them, and it was a rental car and the

battery went, I hiked out to the road every day for 3 days waiting for someone.

Alls well that end well, but was scary. NM is a right to carry state, so I am

always armed.

one

day and maybe that day has come or is coming, 22, 25, 38, 357, 9mm, 380 .

I could see learning to shoot and carrying in NM while camping fir safety. But I

worry I'd accidentally shoot someone. Or get so depressed...I don't know. I've

had many, deep lows over the course of the year and especially in the last

months. TMI.

Maybe pepper spray? Are stun guns legal?

I would never consider pepper spray with chemical intolerance.  That can back

fire quickly.  Guns have safety switches.   That is why you learn how to use

one.  I did this then because I was alone a lot so if I needed to I could

protect myself.
