Guest guest Posted June 29, 2010 Report Share Posted June 29, 2010 Barb, It's fine to use the " fan on " with the AC system. This filters the air if you have good filtration. I was only sugggesting a test to provide a worst case scenario for duct dust. Cycling the blower on and off changes the pressure in the duct system and disturbs dust. It's OK to cycle the blower, it's just an electric motor, no compressor like the outdoor unit. Most central AC systems have safety " time outs " that prevent the compressor from turning back on too soon after being shut down, but if the compressor turns on too soon after being on and then off for a brief period, it can break (due to working against excesive pressure).
