I had the same experience once when I was getting a deep-tissue massage -- just started to weep when the massage therapist got to this one particular spot. It might have freaked me out but a friend who has real bad fibromyalgia had this happen to her during a massage, so I'd already heard about how a person can hold in stress in specific areas of their body. Strange but true -- and it sure feels good to let go, doesn't it. Louise
Guest guest
There really isn't any strict program for you to follow, but they definitely STRONGLY encourage that you at least try and walk every day. Walking is such great excercise and it's cheap.. hehe.. I don't know if anyone really LOVES to excercise.. I like it now just because I can move my body now in ways I couldn't before, plus it's sort of like my alone time just for me. The key is finding something that you like doing whether it be walking, biking, yoga, pilates.. and really 30 minutes out of your day for doing something so beneficial is SO do-able!!! PLUS, why not do whatever you can to maximize your weightloss window. Dr. K did a great presentation at our support meeting about how excercise can help extend your weight loss window, who doesn't want that?? Anyhoo, I hope you find something you like.. hehe or at LEAST something that you can tolerate doing. The hospital staff will have you up and walking within the first four hours after you get back to your room and then every four hours or so after that during the hospital stay. The more you walk, the lower the chances of DVT developing. It's suggested you continue walking on some sort of schedule for the first four to six weeks post-op for just that reason. After that, as someone said, walking is cheap exercise, and the more you exercise the more weight you lose and the faster you lose it. However, if you live in areas where it gets above 80 to 85 degrees, limit your outdoor activity to the cooler times of the day or at a local mall. That's becasue of the increased risk of rapid dehydration at the warmer temps, not something you want to have happen when you're already fighting to get enough fluids into your system. I have a recumbant exercise cycle I can finally use, so that's how I'm trying to get my exercise right now. It's been above 100 the past three days up here and I get tired and thirsty just walking to the car, much less trying to go for 15 minutes. Hope that answers your questions. I was on O2 and the pain pump, and we only walked to the end of the corridor and back. The next time I do remember, we went about twice that far. You are on some sort of pain meds they give you, I think it's Toredyl or something like that, plus you have your patient controlled pain meds. After that it gets easier and by the end of the second day I was walking the DRMC " Loop " . The day after I was discharged, I walked the better part of a mile, but in short spurts. It really didn't bother me because I knew going in it was part of the program and the first couple times you have a nurse and your support person with you. Guest guest
Hi Vicki, Exercise immediately after surgery is extremely important, particularly walking, to avoid blood clots. In addition, it will help your weight loss. Not to mention the overall benefits of exercise. Dr. K doesn't require a certain regimen but he does want you to exercise regularly. If you don't like the traditional kind, find something you like to do. How about sports? How about bike riding? Try a few different things until you find something you like. Hope this helps! Guest guest
Vicki--Your weight loss will progress much better with exercise-- that's just the way it is. Dr. K strongly suggests walking. Each day you walk a little farther than the day before. If you are still pre-op, you might want to start walking now to build up time. Or perhaps try water aerobics--it's very easy on the joints. Good luck! Guest guest
That's super... Knowing when to stop is wisdom along with starting. I had my water aerobics class yesterday and was like the " energizer bunny " for about 1 hour. Also did a building walk around the library. Planning on setting a reminder to get up and move every couple of hours or so. My job is VERY sedentary. > > I DID 8 MINUTES ON MY ABS!!!!!! Yay me. I wanted to do the whole video 17 min but couldn't make it back started really hurting so I quit. Guest guest
Excercising sure does boost your energy that's for sure. Maybe you could do stretches or butt crunches at your desk? Setting up a reminder is a good idea that way you can get at least a little excercise in. It'll help you focus as well. Blessed be,

I did that today - went for a walk around the outside of the building on my two breaks.... I have a desk job too, so I program my faxes to come in on a machine across the building from me so I have to walk over there several times a day. Guest guest
Hi All... I can really identify with this. I'm going to a concert tonight instead of water aerobics (my teacher wanted me to teach it) and ThinWithin chat. My first move tonight was to put in 's Mega Mix VHS and dance a bit. That along with several mini walks will allow me to truly enjoy the concert and support my students who participate as well. > .... someone said on one of my groups to " Find reasons to DO something rather than reasons NOT to do it " > > really got me thinking and she's right - so often it's my m.o. looking for an excuse out of it when we gotta just do it! > > >
Guest guest
Ed that is terrrific advice, I find that if you can exercise while watching TV or whatever you will do it more often. KipEd Gundy <edgundy@...> wrote: I have tossed the dumbbells and other heavy things for my exerciseroutine. I have transistioned over to the resistance bands and wow... what abreeze.I got a set of 3 in a box with detachable handles made by GOLDS GYMat Walmart for only $10.00Now..I find myself using the bands 3 or more times a day.You can do some crunches with them while watching TV, and all the excercise routines can be done standing up while watch the tube.It actually feels good.I have really noticed a difference doing the routines and they arereally so simple (and cheap).I have been doing this for the past month and my wife has noticeda leaner more sculpted appearance in my chest, shoulders and backsince starting using them.Plus... if you go on a trip... they take up no space at all whenyou take them with you in a suit case. There are plenty of web sites online too that give you some suggestedideas for improving your body and it sure can become a cardio workout too.Just a suggestion.EdTrue affluence is not needing anything- Snyder __________________________________________________

Guest guest
Thanks. i've just heard so many rumors about you'll build muscle and won't loose weight. That is because exercise mobilizes toxins, which are causing those symptoms. You need to do this program my friend. All of your symptoms are caused by candida/yeast overgrowth and the only way to cure them is by doing this program. Bee

If you can afford it, perhaps a phone consultation with Bee might help clarify things for you. Many folks have benefited from talking to her in person. Someone who joined not very long ago, Mia, came to us feeling VERY ill. In fact she literally thought she was dying she felt so bad. She talked with Bee, got on the program and because she was so ill, she experienced almost immediate positive results. You can look for her posts to read what she's said about her progress. jackie
