Guest guest
Hi Carl, I like your post...I do think you may be a little harsh on yourself. It is hard to recognize that homes/buildings/apartments in which others seem to be blithely skipping along unharmed are actually doing us grievous harm. When do we really " know " ? We might wonder, sense, but be uncertain. Even once we're pretty certain, we may be so sick, or broke, that it isn't easy or simple to vacate and neither is it easy or simple to find a tolerable healthy new place to live. Most buildings are built to become " sick " . The materials, the way they are built, the carelessness of builders, hvac installers, manufacturers of toxic stuff like carpet and particle board kitchen cabinets and laminate flooring etc, and the naivete of owners and renters, leads to a situation where an exhausted sick person can really have trouble finding anything suitable to live in. Climate, pollution, matter, too. If I were to write up all I've been through in the last 8 months after vacating a sick building in NY and trying to find a home in various states, it would take too long. Suffice to say I learned a lot and am still on a learning curve. I may be stuck building my own home and I really don't have the $$ to do so nor do I need/have the time, but it may be the only answer. I think I finally found a good area of the country for me. At least that's something--in terms of climate, sun, warmth, altitude, lack of pollution etc, it has been really a steep learning curve. I've also learned that people who advertise healthy mold-chemical free homes for sale or rent are often dishonest, self deluded, sick physically, and flighty mentally. It's a difficult situation! The best I can say is if you keep trying in spite of all the difficulties at some point, you'll get lucky. I hope so!
