Guest guest
No I use the arm & hammer in the bath too, but now you have me wondering...LOL  I haven't had a problem with it in baths. A chemist please !!!! God Bless !! dragonflymcs Mayleen ________________________________ From: barb b w <barb1283@...> Sent: Tue, January 4, 2011 10:24:46 PM Subject: [] Re: Any point to taking CSM in a moldy environment?  Wouldn't Bob's Red Mill baking soda be kind of expensive to take a bath in? I buy the Arm and Hammer in ten pound bags at Sam's Club but it doesn't say aluminum free. I have the Bob's for taking internally. Do you all use aluminum free to bath in? I didn't think to be concerned about that. Maybe that is why people use epson salts? Sometimes I use bulk sea salt that I get for .99 cents a pound at Whole Foods, but if I run out, I use baking soda in the tub.

Guest guest
In Dr. Shoemakers book " Mold Illness " he states he took CMS before entering a WDB. I took the CMS while I was visiting a home that had mold. I still reacted to the mold but it only makes sense that the CMS would help b/c it takes the neurotoxins out of the body. But mold avoidance is the answer for recovery from the illness & preventing further complications to the body. I also have the dreaded genotype. I hope you find a safe place soon. Many people are praying....Diane
Guest guest
Diane, I agree with what you said. It is my understanding and experience that CSM (colestyramine) does not stop, or is in any way directly involved in, the reaction to mold or other biotoxin exposures. The purpose of CSM is to bind with the toxins, especially with the immune system byproducts resulting from its attacking the biotoxins, for those individuals whose genetic make-up can't rid the body of those byproducts without assistance. It is unlikely to have an immediate effect because it works on the bile when inside the intestines. Both take time to get there. And additional time for the CSM to slowly bind with the toxins and then be excreted with the feces. Taking CSM before entering a known contaminated location could help as a " head start " but it wouldn't prevent the reaction, as you said you experienced. You will still react. But it would assist in your recovering more quickly after leaving the contamination. Shoemaker's original study was of people who were sick while inside WDB. When they were removed about 3/4 got well on their own and about 1/4 didn't. The 1/4 who didn't recover on their own were given CSM and most of them recovered. All were then placed back inside the same WDB. Those who got sick before got sick again. When removed those who previously recovered did so again. Those who previously did not recover on their own didn't recover this time either. After administration of CSM those who previously recovered with CSM did so again. Stopping the exposure by removing the source is necessary. If you can't identify and remove the source then you must stop the exposure by removing yourself from the source. I know not everyone can do that for a variety of reasons. Unfortunately, neither CSM nor anything else can offer more than a slight reduction (maybe) in severity until the exposure is stopped.
