Guest guest
Do they still tast4e good at 3 or 4 ft. high? The beans I had at 5-8 " were bitter. I'd probaably put them in the garden if they grew that tall. Melody and , I got the planter with the trellis in from LTD just before I left and put it together and my husband planted strawberries in it before we left. Didn't have time to plan much else and we had 2 blueberry plants to put in the ground. I have someone watering them for me while I am gone. Didn't need those trellises for the strawberries but figureed the bareroot plants needed to be in ground. Evidently the company didn't realize th at FL growing time is the fall, not now. But we put them in partial sun h oping they would be okay. The reservoir will h old some water too. I got the 2 tomato pots but no tomatoes to plant yet. I have seeds but will have to get another bag of organic soil for them and may wait until fall. My 2 little plants are still there but not getting enough water. Very tasty but the skins are spittable. LOL. Sweet inside but the skin is hard and can't be chewed up. I am not into swallowing whole as may choke on them. Melody, I am trying to find your sprout and microgarden to sh ow my daughter in CA. She dug out .a couple of h er sprout jars and we'll ssprout in those for my beans and my 4 seed mix. Want to show my granddaughter. She is pecocious and she may want to have her own garden. I may check into craigslist out here to see if I can find h er an Aerogarden. Was thinking of sending her one on the bu y one get one free sale at Aerogarden. She is 8, just had her birthday and I am out here for her baptism. Last of my 8 grandkids on my side. DAve's family are not from our church and didn't have the advantages of it. That is sure a long flight out. My knees are still bothering me th ough I wiggled to4es and ankles, etc. Got up once and walked just a bit and stretched legs in the aisle until the other lady was back in her seat.  Carolyn    ________________________________ To: sproutpeople Sent: Wednesday, April 18, 2012 8:52 AM Subject: Re: I have a question about my pea shoots  Cut some and let some grow. Guest guest
When they get tall, you can clip two or three leaves and the tendril. These are pretty sweet, but every tendril that you cut off is peas that you won't get because you cutting off where the flower will grow. ew Re: I have a question about my pea shoots Do they still tast4e good at 3 or 4 ft. high? Guest guest
Tonight I sauteed the pea shoots with some garlic and onions and a dash of sesame oil. WEll!!!!!! Absolutely delicious. And earlier I had gone to the beauty parlor with my little sprout starter kit for that young woman I had met yesterday. Turns out she is there on Tuesday and Thursday so I'll go back tomorrow. But I came in with sprouting stuff and the big tray of Chia Sprouts. Well you should have seen everybody going OMG, is that Chia?? And I had brought a bag of pea shoots for my diabetic friend who hates to eat. She took one of the pea shoots in her mouth, her eyes went wide and she said (she's Russian). I VANT TO GROW PEAS!!!! I laughed and said " You mean you want to grow Pea Shoots? " She said OMG, These taste like peas " I said " Wait until you make a stir fry " . So tomorrow, along with the sprout starter kit I made for the other girl, I am now giving my friend a mason jar to grow fenugreek seeds and she wants her own pea shoot tray. I'm going to have the whole beauty parlor growing sprouts. rofl. Melody > > When they get tall, you can clip two or three leaves and the tendril. Guest guest
Do you mean to say that if I plant these peas in Coir and give them Liquid Kelp, I can grow them REALLY HIGH??? Really?? I have to do this (if this is true). How cool!!! I'll have the people in the beauty parlor going nuts if I do this. How fun Melody > > Cut some and let some grow. Peas grow to about 4 feet high. Guest guest
Melody, do you have coir under the pea sprouts? Or do you ave one of those new mats? I am showing my daughter in CA your sprouts and microgreens.  Carolyn Wilkerson    ________________________________ To: sproutpeople Sent: Wednesday, April 18, 2012 8:55 AM Subject: Re: I have a question about my pea shoots  As they get taller the cellulose (that's fiber from the cell walls) is going to get thicker and stronger. So they will get tougher, but it is a matter of personal taste when they are too chewy. You will just have to experiment. Lee > Just made this video yesterday. Guest guest
I have used both. Same results. Absolutely no difference. The easier one is of course, the mat. I mean, you wet it, place it on the tray, add the peas and BINGO, in a few days UP THEY GO. Melody > > > Just made this video yesterday. Guest guest
Let me tell you. When she announced " I vant to grow Peas " , I almost fell on the floor. If this goes the way I'm thinking, then they will be putting the trays and the sprouts in the window (to get the sun). I will then get my Flip and make a video. Sprouting in the Beauty Parlor. Such a beautiful thing. lol And I AM ny Appleseed. I think I remember the story about him. He spreads apple seeds around right? I now have to go and look this up. lol > > A regular ny Appleseed. > > Re: I have a question about my pea shoots > > Tonight I sauteed the pea shoots with some garlic and onions and a dash of sesame oil. Guest guest
Yes, for a little while. The roots will soon get too crowded, but there is always a planter on the porch. Carfull dig out a section and transplant them to a pot. ew Re: I have a question about my pea shoots Do you mean to say that if I plant these peas in Coir and give them Liquid Kelp, I can grow them REALLY HIGH??? Guest guest
Mel, I think starting a secondary garden in the beauty parlor is a great idea, but does the shop take a day off? Guest guest
Nah, I'm not going to do pots. I like the setup I now have. Lots of peashoots shooting!!! I can put them on salads, stir fry them. Lots of uses. I also give them away. And I ordered sunnies. Now that should be interesting. I'll have sunnies in trays and pea shoots in trays and people coming in and going OOOH AND AAAHH. Alan said to me last night: " Melody, who was that girl over by the plants " ?? I don't give him any notice. I just bring people in. rofl.
