I can totally relate to the fear of water where it should not be!!!! I

would dry it well and put a dehumidifier in the room 24/7. May be an expert in

this field will have more advice. In the future keep a small square or

round rubber wash pan under the pipe in the sink. I keep on under the kitchen

and one bath sink so it water leaks it will go into the pan and not the

cabinet or floor. I check it every other day or so.

It seems like we have been here 10-11 days, not a week. This is enough time for

stachy to grow. Of course this is the mold I am most focused on because it was

what we had in our mold house.. ironic.

realizing that there was old mold groth in my house and this would be new if

even there and that will make a diff.

Please help me understand how to deal with this logically!. Would love to take

teh cabinet out tomorrow but concerbned about fears of distrubing stachy if

ther.. and if it is its probably not much, right?

cabinet down to the front them spilled over to the floor. There was a puddle on

the floor about the 4 inches in diameter.

and I dont know if its because I went into my neighbors house that smelled like

mold or musty when I first entered or if its this leak.

water permeated underneath and through the floor board os the sink and it is

moist under there. There is really no way to tell that I know of.

thank you for feeling my pain!:-)

i am so going to put a amall container under each sink. we jsut dont look there

often enough. great idea.

communicated with carl and made up my mind what to do. for me to feel

comfortable and esp given it seem the water soaked the particle board most

likely, Im having the cabinet taken out. then when they take it out, gently turn

over and if any mold growth then cover with plastic and duct tape or just duct

tape if a small spot.

the lower floor is the ceiling of the garage and no dry wall ceiling for stachy

to feed off of. i can live with this solution. the cabinet would bother me if we

leave it.. psychologically and there may be good reason to replace since it

seemed to soak up the water.

decision made and done.. hopefully smooth sailing from here. :-D

my symptoms i know can be from many things.. metals are dumping, i had a great

massage and she warned me that if you go too deep you will cause release of

cytokines. visit to mold neighbors doesnt make sense since two days after i left

my house the muscle pain left (most likely from continual cytokine response to

mold or something else in that house) and this is lasting longer (which made me

think it could be the water damaged cabinet.. but that doenst make total sense

either.. we had true WDB stew in our mold house.. this has barely had a chance

to start brewing if at all).

ok.. all done thinking, rehashing out loud. thanks for listening! and thanks to

carl!

Robin, I had the same exact problem but it was under our kitchen sink. I was so

paranoid about it I cut a hole in the bottom of the cabinet and had a mold

remediater look at it with a flash light and a small circular mirror. After a

few minutes he said he couldnt see anything and beings it didnt smell musty

there was nothing to worry about.

You have to remember that you just moved from your moldy house that you lived in

for a number of years. Just because you left that moldy environment doesn't mean

your going to feel better right away. Like I stated in one of my earlier posts I

lived in my WDB for 6 weeks 2 of which I had a commercial air scrubber and it

still took me a couple of months to start to feel better.

I seriously doubt that you have mold but under the circumstances completely

understand your concerns.

You work fast! Wanted to tell you what I did but it looks like you are doing it.

I had a leak in my kitchen and the formica cabinets soaked up some water and of

course got moldy. I pulled out any and all cabinets that seemed affected and

replaced them. Also duct taped sheetrock in place behind sink. Did NOT replace

the formica closest to the floor because I figured if it leaks again, why have

anything there? Water is terrifying to me now.

And thanks for the pan idea! Excellent!
