Hey , guys. We had a case with a 7 year old autistic child that wandered away from his home yesterday evening. Luckily he was found about 2 hours later. He is ok, just a little scratched up. My brother is the sheriff so he called me for advice on how to approach the child after he got the call. He said that, unfortunately, law enforcement officers don't know enough about autism. Whether it is a child that has wandered or an autistic adult, law enforcement needs to know how to handle these situations. My brother is wanting to do a class for his officers so I wanted input from you all. If you can think of any tips or info that would be useful, please let me know. I don't want to leave anything out that may help if an unfortunate situation like this arises again.

Also, if anyone knows of any sites where I could get info on the number of cases where children or adults have wandered or cases where law enforcement was called in I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
