Guest guest
Discovery of cytochrome by DAVID KEILINhttp://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1016/0307-4412(73)90074-5/pdf The story of this discovery made around 90 years ago shows the exceptional power and excitement of science in this era. That which made me want to be a scientist in fact.Today with directed research, this sort of discovery could not be imagined.Cytochrome was discovered more as an important means of supplying oxygen than as a process to detoxify the drugs of today. While the story portrays the cytochrome as essential and exciting part of the chemistry of life I get the impression that modern texts portray it in an academic way that makes it incomprehensible to most people.Essential still most decidedly but otherwise lost in a barrage of complexity and energetic equiibria understood by nobaody. The Linus ing Institute is hardly that of big p'HARMA but even here the discussion and descritpion do not match that of the discovery process.http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocenter/minerals/iron/ Celiac disease for one percent of us gets a metnion but the significance and importance of cytochrome comes out as some dry topic which even the authors of the article seem to have little real knowledge of what is going on.No matter, cytochrome and the deep meaning of its part in our health is never more needed than the pioneering and brilliant work of Kielin. We almost seem to have gone in 90 years from the recognition of this chemical for life of all living things to that today of a complexity and confusion that no one can untangle properly today.Discovery of cytochrome by DAVID KEILIN
