Guest guest
Did you soak your flax overnight? Don't you need to keep them in the dark for awhile? And won't they dry out easily with the paper plate. Are you misting it often to keep moisture in? With the sunnies, in coir and on glass, you put another glass on top after you water it and then you pour off the excess water. But still have to put water on the flax too, don't you? To get it all might sprinkle or mist it to keep paper towel damp. And a towel over them might pull them down. Don't want to be negative. How could something be put over them? I think I saw others that just had paper towels on top so couldn't you also cover them with paper towels? A square tray might work well, too, as it would be easier to balance on top of one another. Good luck with that. Sure is cheaper way to do it and it can be fresh and clean with no clean up afterwards. If plate gets soggy, put another plate under it. make sure shelf is painted with something that will be waterproof or put a mat on top of it or a plastic runner. Keep us informed, teach. Guest guest
Hi Carolyn: Well, I succeeded in growing Flax (2 trays) in Coir. From what I've read you can grow these (no soaking overnight), on a damp paper towel or a hemp bag. So I decided to experiment. I'm covering them up and misting them every day. It says not to get them too wet. They do take a long time to germinate. My chia seeds are germinating right now. This is so cool I can't tell you. Soon I'll be Flax, Chia, Sproutlady Melody. I'll keep you all posted if anything sprouts. OR NOT!! lol, Melody > > > Take a look > > > > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWgd-bofwW0 > > > > Melody > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
They had chia at Whole Foods, too.  Had sunnies, but I already have some ready to go when I find the coir.  I sure can't afford $52 to ship $12 chia 35 lb worth I think it was. I may start letting my fingers do the walking or look it up on internet and then call them. Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Monday, April 2, 2012 8:25 PM Subject: Re: I built a two tier paper plate flax sprouter  Hi Carolyn: Well, I succeeded in growing Flax (2 trays) in Coir. Guest guest
What am I going to do with my Flax? The same thing I did with my recent batch of flax (which took forever to sprout). I added them to my sunnies, pea shoots and brassica mix and made LOVELY sprout salads. To die for!!! And Flax is good for you!!! lol, Melody > > Great idea Melody. > I only sprout my flax for two to three days > > What are you going to do with the sprouts? > > Bridgette > > Take a look > > > > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWgd-bofwW0 > > > > Melody > > > -- > > Know anyone that is sick? > Cancer, Fibromyalgia, Severe Illness, Arthritis, > Chronic Pain or something else > Stage 4 cancer clinical study shows 60% remission. > Balances immune system > Want to feel/get better? > 1411.mylifeintl.com > > >
Guest guest
I saw flax seeds and all kinds of things with flax in them in Whole Foods. Even flax seed oil. It looked like it was medicinal and I wondered what it was used for. Wasn't in the regular oil section. Didn't see coconut oil but all kinds of other oils.   Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Monday, April 2, 2012 8:44 PM Subject: Re: I built a two tier paper plate flax sprouter  What am I going to do with my Flax?
