Guest guest
Not that I am any authority to back up what Dr. Thrasher is saying but I would like to as a victom say that waht he is saying is very true. I went from perfect vision to one eye being far and the other near sighted so it makes no difference the glasses I wear my vision is still blury. My sinus's Ive yet to figure out. Thus far Dr. Thrasher is the only person I have talked to that seems to have some key answers to the missing links. I know he (you Dr. Thrasher) can indeed point you in the right direction and he is a book I would love to read but I ran out of the financial ability to continue testing before I had spoken to him. Get his and Carl Grimes opinions before you spend alot or any money on this subject. Yhis is the best advice I can think of to start with. Guest guest
you need to get out of that house and stay out, you well only get sicker if you dont. you have discribed some things that I have been through, I have permenant double vision now and sometimes it becomes more than double. plus blured vision. I also suffered severe sinus and brain involvement with my exposure. I also was tested with being highly allergic to many molds and other things that may actually have mold involved with them, right after my exposure. however several years later now, I have been retested and found to have no allergies what so ever, so you may not have true allergies, but you have become intolerant to many things. these can include things like steriods,+ I had bad reactions to many prescribed medicines for a long time after my exposure and it has mellowed out some now but I still react severely to some. I found out the hard way that spaying a steriod nasal spray up my nose is not the thing to do. so yes, even ENT's without expertize on the illness can prescribe the wrong med's. even though I was diagnosed with allergies, I never experienced the tipical allergy symptoms. I never tried the allergy shots and glad I didn't, but did started washing my sinuses regulary, which helps alot. you need to stay away from that house and also get rid of any other chemicals in your invironment to give yourself a chance to start felling better. besides the obvious things this also means, purfumes, sented candles, sented laundry detergents and drier products, scented shampoos, soaps, house hold cleaning products, ect. and dont take anything with you from your house that may be contaminated, and porus things tend to soak up this contamination and that includes cloths, you may be able to wash them several times and get rid of that but maybe not and you really dont need to try to deal with that right now, maybe just by some cheap cotton cloths for now. make sure you wash them to get rid of chemicals and smells they have picked up from being in the store. these smells can also affect you. yes, cut grass was one of the things I was diagnosed as allergic to but I've realized sence that it's not the grass I'm reacting to but whats stirred up into the air with mowing which can be alot of things includeing chemicals and toxins that have settled there. the way I figured this out was by being at my daughters house one day and usually if someones mowing I would get the heck out of there before they started and even being inside didn't keep me from haveing effects. but this day it had rained earlier and her husband desided to mow even though the grass was still fairly wet. I was braseing myself inside for severe reactions when I heard the mower start up and was wishing he would have said something so I could have left before he started mowing, but no reactions came,I was baffled, so I desided to step outside, I had no reactions, it was than that I realized it wasn't the grass, or the cutting of grass that affected me so bad, it was what became airborn with the act of mowing. I was also diagnosed as being allergic to roaches even though I hadn't ever really been exposed to them in a hudge way. I researched this and found that roaches eat mold, and live around it. along with several other insects. I was supposedly allergic to some trees, but this can be much like cut grass because trees catch particles and things out of the air. so than I desided that if I was truely allergic to anything it must be mold, however, I know now that it's just not a true allergy to even mold but a intolance of mold and mold byproducts that also include their toxins. knowing that people can be diagnosed as allergic to some toxins basicly tells me that allergy testing can be about a reaction to more than just allergens. for example a bee sting which some people are highly " allergic " to, is a poison. why some people after a exposure in a water damaged home or building show possitive allergy testing results and some dont has baffled me for some time, but it's not possable to do allergy testing for everything, all toxins involved in a water damaged home. maybe if it was, maybe most of us would show possitive to something that we were exposed to. this is just my thought on this, hopefully sometime soon we well have the answers. haveing said that, their are people with true allergies and it does seem that these exposures would be really hard for them to deal with, however it also seems that they may be some of the first ones to reconize that something in their environment is getting to them and may get out quicker, thus, saveing theirselfs from getting severe damage. maybe? --- In , " dennispowell@... I am renting a home now (I will never be able to move back home) but can't seem to shake this illness-it seems to keep morphing into new and equally debilitating symptoms. Is there a doctor/expert out there who can review my symptoms and give me some advice? I have seen many doctors where I live and while they try to help, they admit they have never seen or treated patients with this exposure problem before. > > My symptoms - began about two years ago, with eye, mouth and gum irritation. My eyes grew so painful, I had to put cold washcloths on them to sleep at night. The mouth, gums were irritated and upper salivary glands were swollen. The orbital tissue felt swollen and the tissues felt rotten. My left pupil was slightly larger than the right. Many visits to the eye doctor only found inflammation, unknown cause. Fans bothered me, so I moved out of my bedroom with my husband into another bedroom, with no relief. Then I began to get such horrible inflammation in the nose and sinuses, I had to isolate myself in one bedroom, wearing masks and goggles for most of the day, closing the vents and providing a separate a/c system for this room. My whole face was painful under the surface. Breathing was like breathing fire - I tried to put vaseline in the sinuses and at times had to plug my nostrils and breath through my mouth so air would not pass over them. Ink from magazines was nearly intolerable. My breathing became shallow for months, because it just hurt to pass air over the sinus tissues. I began to worry about my lungs - I knew if my lungs became inflammed like that I would be toast. > I developed a ball of inflammed tissue in the left ethmoid sinus which hurt so bad, it sent me into a screaming fit. Several ENT doctors just thought it was a booger-I finally had to see a head trauma specialist to get a proper diagnosis of 'sinus disease with lesion, with signaling'. I was also developing intermittent double vision and was diagnosed with allergies to many airborn things (just about everything present in and outside my home, including my cats, weeds, trees, feathers, all molds, grass, pollen-odd for an older lady who never had allergies before). I had to see a facial cranial surgeon who agreed to remove the lesion in my sinus, upon biopsy showed as simply inflammed tissue. This was sitting on a nerve and blood vessel over my left eye. I remember resting upstairs after the surgery - and then my husband mowed the lawn for the first time that year. It was as though a bully had thrown sand in my eyes, me in a panic trying to understand what was happening to me. I had grown hypersensitive to the molds/grass that was stirred up in the mowing. I made the husband put plastic up over all the windows in the house after that incident. The double vision improved for a while, but would return after every allergy shot. I began the allergy shots shortly before the surgery and they seemed to help the horrible sinus inflammation after several months of accelerated treatment. After about 14 months of shots, I started having intolerable side effects and had my last and final shot about three weeks ago. > > I developed extremely oily skin in about Jan of this year while at the hotel. All the pores have filled up with white, waxy sebum which is not normal for me. I have these black hair-like things in the pores of my chin, like a blackhead but not. More like a hair without a root attached. The skin continued to worsen into pustules, improving some when the shots stopped. I have terrible joint pain in the elbow and sometimes finger joints that came on over the last couple of months, pain and burning skin sensations at the injection sites and below toward the hands. I am so hypersentitive to my environment, I don't go outside in the summer (had some skin burning issues with the pollen season-afraid to go out). Allergens have horrible odors, cause blood to ooze from the sinus, usually accompanied by burning eyes, pins and needles in the mouth, lips, asthma attacks, tightening muscles in chest, stomach and throat. I have lately developed an occasional cough, white discharge from eyes and nose that is thick like elmer's glue. Sometimes I get nauseated, hot sweats, dizzy, diareah, actually vomited one morning after getting up. > I have to mop the floors just about every day with a sore elbow, use my air cleaners, shower before bed, keep linens clean, use dehumidifiers to keep humidity under 50%, etc. It's killing me, not sustainable forever. If I don't keep my environment spotless it irritates the sinuses and can cause asthma attacks. My sense of smell has been magnified about 100 times, which is mainly bad except when I eat, and food is intensely flavorful. I have trouble visiting with my family-they have to scrub in the shower and wear sanitized clothing first. I am currently seeing an infectious disease doctor I trust, he is treating with tetracycling and testing me for some previous serious infections I have had. The antibiotic doesn't seem to be helping for these symptoms (about three weeks now). Tried inhaled steriods for a while but broke out in a rash each time, each time sooner and more severe so had to abandon the steriod route. My life revolves around mopping, cleaning, watching TV, avoiding people as they carry allergens on their clothes and skin that make me sick. This is not the way I want to live. > PLEASE SOME EXPERT NEEDS TO HELP ME GET OUT OF THIS NIGHTMARE and get my life back to some extent....ANY TREATMENTS FOR ME? > Signed - Isolated, suffering and frightened new female member >
Guest guest
I'm sorry you are suffering. If you haven't already, you will want to look at Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker's work. He believes that some of us with certain genetics do not make enough of the right kind of antibiodies to get rid of mycotoxins (the toxins made by mold). We end up highly toxic and need binders in order to rid ourselves of mycotoxins. My sisters and I all have the genetic issue. It is estimated that 25%+ of the population may have this problem. The mycotoxins cause many problems and mess up a slew of hormones and thus body functions. There are doctors who know how to try to repair the damage. The book " Mold Warriors " by Dr. Shoemaker will be a good place to start looking into this. http://www.moldwarriors.com/ You may want to take the VCS test to see if you are being affected by the toxins. It's not foolproof but might be helpful. It is relatively cheap. http://www.chronicneurotoxins.com/ Another site of Dr. Shoemakers http://www.biotoxin.info/ Technical info based on Dr. Shoemakers theory http://www.biotoxin.info/docs/GordonMD_ILADS_Biotoxins_RS_9_5_08.pdf If you can't make the antibodies to rid yourself of mycotoxins, seems like the shots could make you much sicker. Mold also depresses the immune system which can then make you susceptible to fungal and other infections. Guest guest
Thought it should be added, mainly in my own opinion, because of the sinus involvement you've had, that you may want to consider going to Dr. Gray in Benson,az. if you fell you may be suffering from fungal infection, along with the toxin exposure we suffer from these exposures that is not only from mycotoxin exposure but other toxins that molds produce and still even other toxins that can be present in water damaged environments. Dr. Gray does prescribe a antifungal nasal spray that may help you if he determines that you need it. I just dont know if Dr. Shoemaker is addressing to possability of fungal infection yet. anyone know? I dont know, it's been a few years sence I went to him, he may be addressing this now. Guest guest
Where are you? I can so relate to your e-mail. I truly felt as if I were dying; every system, it seemed, was impacted. Simply living became a series of days revolving around trying to avoid another flare of new symptoms--emphysema, edema, heart failure, joint inflammation, tachacardia...on and on. I am seeing a doctor in Santa Barbara whom Jack Thrasher told me about. Thanks to him, I now see treatments that are making a dent in my illness. Dr. Janette Hope provides treatments for the cause of exposure, rather than merely trying to sort out and treat the symptoms as they arise. I am so grateful for her--and for Jack's recommendation. She truly has saved my life! I am still beginning in my treatment protocol, but I can see a light...life can be lived again, albeit without exposures that lurk everywhere!!! Good wishes to you. I surround you with prayers and know that wherever you are, there is a doctor who can help! Listen to Dr. Thrasher, as he lives this and has a wealth of information. I remain grateful to him and hope that he is the toxicologist my lawyers choose for researching the environment. I know he will be my choice, as I trust his knowledge and know that he understands the breadth of exposure like few do! Good thoughts, sally --- In , " dennispowell@... Guest guest
I will. I would so love for you to do the testing, as I know my case will come to that. I don't trust others' expertise or bias; as you know, there are folks out there who claim to understand mold and how to test for its presence. I certainly don't want to risk their involvement in my case, which will impact students as well as staff. Again, thank you--a million-and-one times! sally --- In , " Jack Thrasher, Ph.D. " <toxicologist1@...> wrote: > > Thank you Sally. Check out my website and show it to your attorney's.
