Guest guest
Received this from another site.. Liz We're writing to invite you to participate in an upcoming event. The second annual Penn Autism Network conference will take place on the University of Pennsylvania campus over the course of two days, March 15-16, 2007. Like last year, the goal of this conference, " Journeys through Adolescence and Adulthood, " is to build a regional network of individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), their families, and the professionals who work with them. We want to provide this diverse community with the opportunity to share ideas and strategies for promoting a system of supports and services for adults with ASD. We invite you to submit a proposal for a presentation on either the morning or afternoon of Friday, March 16. We will be offering a total of 12 workshops during the day, 6 in the morning and 6 in the afternoon. Some ideas for presentations from the conference committee are as follows: 1.. What is a good assessment? 2.. Training models for professionals 3.. Promoting friendships/peer relationships/alliances 4.. Creating support groups for families and individuals with autism 5.. Dating and sexuality 6.. Marital issues 7.. Jobs and job training 8.. Legal issues 9.. Financial planning and guardianship 10.. Coexisting psychiatric conditions 11.. Family systems approaches 12.. Cognitive behavioral therapy 13.. Social skills seminars 14.. State initiatives to help patients and families Please do not limit yourself to these suggestions. We will consider all topic ideas. In addition, this year we will be accepting posters. Please send a brief description of your proposed poster to dcwright@... . For a good description of posters and how to prepare them, click here: http://www.siam.org/siamnews/general/poster.htm . All programs should be as interactive as possible and targeted for a broad audience. We anticipate offering 10 or more 1.5-hour presentations, most to run concurrently with other offerings. Please use the attached format or the form in the body of this email to share your program ideas. Note the submission deadline of Friday, December 1. We look forward to hearing from you. If you have any questions in the meantime, please feel free to contact Deirdre , Conference Coordinator, at dcwright@... or 610/853-3747.
