Guest guest
Robin: You have some good questions. I will answer some of them. Carl's input is also needed. See my answers in red below. 1. If you are injured and/or sensitive to mold (fungi) keep returning, then trash the item. 2. Killing air borne spores makes them nonviable. However, the dead spores are still potentially dangerous to the sensitive. They contain the toxins and antigens. Also, killing the airborne spores most likely cause them to fractionate into smaller particles. The smaller particles contain the same toxins and antigens as the spores. Also, the smaller particles deposit deeper in the alveoli releasing their contaminants into the blood stream. 3. See answer two above with respect to live vs dead spores. Smaller fragments are dangerous because they are inhaled deep into the alveoli (see above). You can use disinfectants, but what are you going to do with the dead bodies? Just because a disinfectant is used in a hospital and/or is recommended my a remediator does not mean it is safe. Disinfectants in by their own definition are designed to kill life. 4. Yes mold spores outside do intrude indoors. What you need to know is what species of fungi are indoors vs outdoors. There is a difference between the two. 5. Yes, they can stick to walls, ceilings, fabrics etc. Based upon your questions, you apparently do not understand what the entire indoor environment resulting from water intrusion is about. The indoor environment contains multiple biocontaminants. These are a variety of fungal species, Gram negative and positive bacteria and their toxins and antigens. I suggest that you go to my web site and read up on biocontaminants in the indoor air associated with water intrusion.
