Guest guest
Let me know if you find out. When I bought my washer I was told that there is always standing water somewhere in the bottom or something - they are designed that way. Well there's a nice home for mold. > > Hi All, > > i have a high efficiency stacked front loading washer, it started > smelling musty, i looked in the manual and it says to run a " cleaning " > cycle monthly w/Affresh (probably some chemically product) or chlorine > bleach. Guest guest
Sue we have the same kind of washer and according to V she had the same problem when she first bought it. Whenever we finish the last load of laundry we open the door up and let the water around the rubber gaskets completely dry. Also, remove the soap/fabric softener/bleach dispenser and drain it, they hold allot of water as well. > > Hi All, > > i have a high efficiency stacked front loading washer, it started > smelling musty, i looked in the manual and it says to run a " cleaning " > cycle monthly w/Affresh (probably some chemically product) or chlorine > bleach. Guest guest
I always leave the top load open to dry.  I also do not use the dispensers, is that bad ?  God Bless !! dragonflymcs Mayleen ________________________________ From: Tug <tug_slug@...> Sent: Mon, August 16, 2010 11:02:22 PM Subject: [] Re: moldy clotheswasher  Sue we have the same kind of washer and according to V she had the same problem when she first bought it. Guest guest
Dave, thanks, do you run any kind of monthly " clean " cycle and if so what do you use to clean it with? I would open the door but since we moved and are washing everything new that we buy, the regular constant washing because my sick son is germophobic and towels only get used once before hitting the floor, and now my other son follows suit, etc. etc...but I will look at the soap dish and drain it, i already am now wiping out the gasket each time so it doesn't hold water, until it started to smell so bad I never really paid any attention to how it was built, stupid design! sue >Sue we have the same kind of washer and according to V she had the same >problem when she first bought it. Guest guest
mayleen, the top loads don't have the same problem because they don't have that stupid gasket that the front load needs or it would leak... sue >I always leave the top load open to dry. > > > I also do not use the dispensers, is that bad ? > > >God Bless !! >dragonflymcs >Mayleen
Guest guest
Sue to the best of my knowledge most of the front loading washer are built with the same design flaw. To answer your question no, we dont run any kind of clean cycle, leaving the door open so the water around the rubber gasket dries seems to work the best. I read somewhere that using powdered HE detergent is better than liquid but Im not sure if you can buy powdered HE soap that wont cause problems with your son's sensitivity to chemicals. I wish I could be of more help, sorry Tug > > Dave, > > thanks, do you run any kind of monthly " clean " cycle and if so what do > you use to clean it with? Guest guest
well for right now i am just holding my breath when i open the thing between cycles and when it next stops i will pull out the soap tray. sue Sue to the best of my knowledge most of the front loading washer are >built with the same design flaw. Guest guest
Try vinegar or borax or one after the other. Vinegar has always worked for me-it's smelly but does the trick. Borax is also super safe and a good cleaner but I would try a gallon of vinegar in a full load wash of water. > > Hi All, > > i have a high efficiency stacked front loading washer, it started > smelling musty, i looked in the manual and it says to run a " cleaning " > cycle monthly w/Affresh (probably some chemically product) or chlorine > bleach.
