Guest guest
That's interesting, because these things are often recommended by other people, specifically for alleviating herx'ing. I'm not sure I buy it because the assumption is your immune system is elevated. My understanding is that the immune system is sometimes (in some ways) elevated and sometimes (in some ways) not elevated enough. So maybe if it is elevated it's bad. But if it's not then it should be good. Cindi Laurion@... 11/16/00 06:36 PM Please respond to egroups cc: Subject: Sauna detox An article was posted within the last few days about magnesium. In this article, there was information about detoxing thru the skin. I believe it was hot baths with epsom salts, and other similar information. However, I must tell you that according to Cheney, when your immune system is activated, you should stay out of hot tubs, saunas, anything that would elevate your temperature, and cause your body to think it had a fever. When this happens, you immune system is further activated, making you sicker. Nonetheless, I never gave up my very hot bathtub soakings, and I was so sick anyway, what difference could it make. The 20 minute hot soak was food for the soul, and worth it. I have no clue if I detoxed or not. Guest guest
just wanted to mention- I think what the article meant is that Epsom salt baths are a good way to overcome a magnesium deficiency if you can't tolerate a high enough dose orally because it's so laxative. Most nutrients are well absorbed through the skin. That's good to keep in mind if you have a sick baby or animal that can't take a bunch of pills. I've mixed up a supplement lotion lots of times. after I first read adelle davis was already recomending that back in the '50s. Some of the compounding pharmacies will make lotions with exact measurments but it's expensive to do. Something else to think about - never put anything on your skin that you wouldn't put in your mouth. There are enough good organic toiletries now so you don't have to get poisoned with petrochemicals and mineral oil. Sauna detox > > An article was posted within the last few days about magnesium. Guest guest
have people on this group had good success w/sauna detox? getting ready to force my son to do this, dr rae believes this is the best way to remove mold and chemical toxins.. could have him go back to cholestyramine but that doesn't address the chemical toxins in his body, also the rest of the family is going to try csm, makes me a bit nervous cause it is messing with your digestive tract quite a bit, so am thinking of just trying sauna to start and see if that reduces mycotoxin load in our bodies... sue v. >I had the impression, from reading her book, that the sauna-detox >protocal is not that successful. Guest guest
Dave, At Dr. Rea's we were told that you need to work up to at least 20 minutes (and they only let you do 30 minutes) per sauna session at 140 degrees + for it to have a good detox effect, but start slowly and work up, also may need to supplement minerals, etc. while doing sauna...and you need to do the sauna regularly, 5 days a week say... best, sue >Sue I talked to a couple of people that had pretty good luck with w/ >saunas for detox. Guest guest
diane, fortunately our sauna is a heavenly heat, we just have to wipe it down after moving it from the old house into the new space and then start doing the saunas, and yes, toxic woods and glues, avoiding those is why i bought this sauna, long before my son's problems became obvious... sue >Hi Sue: I had great success with the sauna at Dr. Reas. Guest guest
carl, dr. rea would have been pleased if my son did 20-30 minutes a day of sauna every day, he wasn't recommending several hours a day, but the more you do probably the faster you detox, his clinic's protocol also involves supplements, but if they make you sick they still want you to sauna w/o the supplements, and they do draw blood and run labs every 5 sauna sessions.... sue v. >research1844 (I still don't know your name), > >The sauna program is more complex and involved than just >spending time in a sauna. Guest guest
Sue in all honesty I feel funny using the sauna at the gym. Im a little modest and I don't feel right walking into a public room like a sauna without a shirt on. > > Dave, > > At Dr. Rea's we were told that you need to work up to at least 20 > minutes (and they only let you do 30 minutes) per sauna session at 140 > degrees + for it to have a good detox effect, but start slowly and workup, also may need to supplement minerals, etc. while doing sauna...and you need to do the sauna regularly, 5 days a week say... > > best, sue
Guest guest
Yes, that's what I did at COEM with Dr. Lieberman. At first I could not even stand to stay in there 10/15 minutes so worked up to 20 minutes and then a half hour. I believe we did 20/30 minutes in, came out had our pulses checked by the nurse, drank lots of water, rested for 10 minutes and then went back in and repeating the cycle for three hours total in the sauna per day. I am a complete believer. After about two weeks of this (and all of his other treatments) I started to feel like my old self. > > Dave, > > At Dr. Rea's we were told that you need to work up to at least 20 > minutes (and they only let you do 30 minutes) per sauna session at 140 > degrees + for it to have a good detox effect, but start slowly and work > up, also may need to supplement minerals, etc. while doing sauna...and > you need to do the sauna regularly, 5 days a week say... > > best, sue > > > >Sue I talked to a couple of people that had pretty good luck with w/ > >saunas for detox.
