Guest guest
You need to contact Nina (nina_eguia@...) and she'll tell you what you need to do. It is a matter of completing some medical forms, then according to your BMI you might have to do a pre-op diet, and then you schedule the day that works best for you and Dr. Aceves. Are you ready to make the plunge? Gonna do it? If so, congrats!!!! Guest guest
depends are where you go. i think dr. Aceves may have a quicker "get you in" procedure. he sounds wonderful. i am still waiting to see if ins. will cover me. i have heard of so many flipped ports, etc...that i think it would be better if my surgeon was closer by for aftercare....i'm a big baby though!! good luck, just get ahold of them and they will let you know what you need to do. i think as long as your bmi is above 32, they will band you (in Mexico). my office here says you must be at least 35 bmi with comorbidities. i do have to do a six month supervised diet....but i think thats ONLY so that ins. will pay. best wishes!! Process do u have 2 do something before the surgery? special deit? can i just show up with the money?
Guest guest
No you can not just show up you have to be processed first.. They will want to know what kind of meds you are on and, your BMI and your weight and a little about then he will put you on a pre-opt diet until you have your surgery which is pretty much up to you when you want it done. Guest guest
This is a very professional operation. You cannot just show up with the money and expect to have your surgery. If it were a shady operation you may be able to do that but not with Dr. Aceves and his staff. Just like any doctor or hospital, there are preliminary things that have to be done. You really need to contact Nina and discuss this with her. theolia <theolia25@...> wrote: do u have 2 do something before the surgery? special deit? can i just show up with the money? Guest guest
Tricia... Just a point of interest. I'm I am not an advocate of socialized medicine I do find it interesting that other countries that do have socialized medicine start banding people with a BMI of 30 and it is covered under their insurance. Amazing, eh? Dr. Aceves will band anyone with a 30 BMI or higher. It is only the US that waits long enough for people to get huge, have joint and heart problems as well as diabetes. Then they believe us that we are fat enough. I just don't get it. Even many of the docs in the US that take cash for banding make people wait until they have a BMI w/comorbidities or a BMI of 40 or more without comorbidities. It's just silly. Guest guest
Nina can tell you what the Doctor's instructions are for your particular condition. With a BMI of 34, and relatively healthy, I was told not to loose weight and bring my meds with me. If you are grossly overweight, he may want you to loose some pounds and have you go on a diet. Contact Dr. Aceves' staff. Good luck, Margaret On 7/28/07, theolia <theolia25@...> wrote: do u have 2 do something before the surgery? special deit? can i just show up with the money? Guest guest
Hello, All... Is there a process I should have completed before sharing in this group? I keep hearing folks talk about what is posted/what is not, etc. I feel as if I've missed a step or something. Thanks, sally
Guest guest
Hey Sally, You are OK just as you are!! Feel free to jump in and get your feet wet. This group is a pretty good group over all. You have not missed any steps. I have not been around in a few months but I once lived at this group seeking answers to my healing. I was sooooooo sick for so long that it was not funny. If you have questions or in-put, feel free to discuss. Welcome aboard! J > > Hello, All... > > Is there a process I should have completed before sharing in this group? Guest guest
Sally as far as I know there is no process, if you have a question please ask. > > Hello, All... > > Is there a process I should have completed before sharing in this group? Guest guest
No. I think we just had a couple bad days that were confusing and argumentative. This group is very helpful and you did not miss a step. Just ask what you want to. > > Hello, All... > > Is there a process I should have completed before sharing in this group? Guest guest
Whoosh! Thanks for the reassurance and invitation to participate, folks. I learn a lot just by reading others' posts and have really gained so much from referrals and experience-based recommendations. Gratitude for the wisdom you all share...feel blessed to have others willing to share their successes--and failures--while on this journey not one of us signed up for. Good thoughts, sally ________________________________ From: barb b w <barb1283@...> Sent: Thu, August 19, 2010 9:07:29 PM Subject: [] Re: Process  No. I think we just had a couple bad days that were confusing and argumentative.
