It is discouraging Jill. Perhaps you are still detoxing if you had years of

exposure. On the other hand perhaps you are still exposed. Did you move or

decontaminated your environment? I moved from one bad environment to a worse

one first time I moved.

As for my tests, I had moderately high amt of tricothecenes first test and

neglible the second test 3 years later BUT two different labs doing the tests so

never been sure if I compared apples to apples.

Environmental Diagnostic Group, LaCrosse, WI first test for tricothecenes only

in the midst of my exposure; Realtime Labs in Dallas, TX for all three toxins

after fixing my house and detoxing found no tricothecense, no stachy toxins and

insignificant amt of ochratoxin. However last year I had fluid from a

pancreatic cyst sent down there and they found ochratoxin in it, which makes

sense because aspergillus is the significant mold that was problem in house and

once it gets into your pancrease, it's probably there to stay. My understanding

of pancrease is it's so hard to treat because not much blood circulates through

it or perhaps none..?

PS: cyst fluid sample: According to MRI I have small cysts in both pancreas and

liver. Only the pancreatic cyst fluid was aspirated and after a huge effort

finally got the lab that had it to allow Dr Rae to get it and send it to

Realtime labs for addl testing. It was VERY hard to get but shouldn't have

been! My gi doctor sent it to original lab for CEA, cancer profile, came back

negative (had cancer in area near area and that why it was aspirated) but lab

was going to throw fluid away if ordering doctor didn't want it in one week

(after quite a big outpatient procedure to get it from me!) and put me threw

hell trying to get it from them to send it elsewhere, even though they were just

going to throw it out.

Lab didn't even want to talk to me, because I was the " patient " ...yes, and the

one who paid for EVERYTHING, the one who pays for my insurance, both the portion

my employer pays by working for it, and by the portion I pay out of my paycheck

and the fluid came out of my body and results of test ONLY impact ME.

I have suffered a great deal of anger over what I have gone through with mold

illness, house remediation and doctors, to put it mildly.

I think the solution to health care is actually to have patient to pay for

everything directly, because I can get whatever I need for my pets from a

veterarian because *I'm the boss*, because whoever has the money is the boss;

now it's my insurance company. Health insurance should be for hospitalization

only. That way the price of EVERYTHING would come WAY WAY DOWN!!!! and you and

I would be the boss of our healthcare.

Barb,

Thanks for sharing! I also have a lot of frustration with both the

medical system and especially medical insurance. I now refer to my

insurance company, Blue Shield, as " Deny, Delay, Don't Pay " and not only

is it infuriating that they routinely don't pay for stuff that might be

useful in figuring out what is wrong and possibly curing it, while they

love to fully cover big pharma drugs that do nothing but mask symptoms,

but they suck up so much of my time fighting them to get ANY small

amount of reimbursement, a horrible state of affairs...My kid's doctor

is 1 1/2 hours drive away, it is hard to get him there because of his

condition, so I fought to get phone consults reimbursed, which amazingly

they did voluntarily for a while, but then stopped doing. I filed an

appeal which they denied, saying phone consults aren't covered (stupid

in an age where the technology allows phone consults to be as effective

as office visits, & when a doc thinks he needs to see you in person,

he'll let you know, and here we are with global warming...), so now I

have filed an appeal with the state dept of managed care, just cause I

was feeling feisty and wanted to see if this would go anywhere, I am now

telling them that the doctor sent us to AZ which is a long 2 day drive

away and also to see DR. Gray who is 6 hours away from our temporary

residence so hard to go see either doc in person routinely....it will be

interesting to see if they budge at all on this....

I now ask my doctors to mark lab requisitions with " copy to patient " and

add my fax number so that I can call the lab and find out status of my

labs and get a copy faxed, like you say, it's our blood, our time, our

health, we pay for it, but for some reason we can't see the results

directly, makes no sense at all. And, I have learned how to interpret a

lot of these tests so why shouldn't we see them directly, it's

belittling, but that's the system...

Well, glad to get that off my chest!!

Yes, it doesn't sound like anything you would want, to pay for it yourself but

costs would come way down, including drug costs, and maybe doctors coming to

your house instead of everyone waiting for hours to see someone. Incidentally

there is a fixed number of people they let in to medical schools. This keeps

the competition down and costs up for doctors. Let anyone who has the grades go

to medical school and see the costs come way, way down too. At one time, you

could easily get blood test results but now everyone treats you like you are the

third party, a nosey intruder of your records and treatment. You are the

patient....ewwwww, the sick person, who is the recipient of all this good will

from an insurance company...no, wait, they are recipient of all of your hard

work, and money, it's almost forgotten!

I sence some anger, like what I had when the doc comes in after I've been given

the knock out shot and tells me he's not going to send off samples for testing

where I want him to. nice that they waited until I couldn't get off the table

and walk out. no problem sending the first one to a local lab who cultured for

less than 3 weeks, but a hudge problem when I wanted second one tested by

someone else.

Jeanine, you sense right...I think secondary to effects of mold illness itself

and the financial loss, thirdly suffer from anger and it is very painful. Anger

adds just one more brick on to the pile of burdens you carry along with all this

and it also affects your health.
