I don't think it's the giving of the hormones that is so shocking, it's the

reason for giving them that might be shocking. There is a big difference in

taking hormones because of health reasons (menapause) and stunting someone's

growth to make it easier on the care giver. You as an adult make that

choice, however, our kids do not have that luxury.
