Guest guest
To add more to the chaos.. so sorry to be writing so much.. We are thinking of clearing out of the house and moving .. I have been told by others not to take anything.. I dont think we had long term air contamination.. possible 3 months, maybe less.. just the 5-6 days the knee wall was exposed.. ?? I forgot to say that I did have the inspector back last week about 4 months after remediation... air great.. but stachy low levels in carpet leading out of master bathroom.. inspector says just use a hepa vac.. I am at this point freakng out about those spores and wondering where else there are spores and worried about how to take care of them and if we do move out if ont for the hosue, for the woods and outdoor air quality.. there is concern we will cross contaminate whereever we move.. our car, etc... are there some guidelines... inspector acts like no big deal and i would love for this to be no big deal. At least remove the carpet? What about bedding in the master bedroom at least.. ?? anything cloth? not cloth OK? Can you get rid of stachy.. i am realising aspergillus penicillum is part of our out door air and about nothing to do about that but the austin airs and hepa vac.. is stachy different? Thanks so much. I am alarmed and close to OCD about this and sure do need to hear some good balanced informtation. Thank you! Robin
Guest guest
I dont have the choice to move around. So in a sense that is a blessing in disguise. I have to stay here and make the most of it. I am out of the house that was growing the water damage stew. So thats progress. I cant control my family's every move. I cant not let them have friends over. If they were very sick and I knew I had to got this route, then we would go there. I dont know where you can find a place that is 100% mold free and you can keep that way. I am hearing the estreme responders perspective and s idea of extreme mold avoidance, but I dont know for sure that means ::staying:: in the " godforsakendesert. " I am getting finding places with more " pristine " air some believe is helpful and some believe is necessary. I am stuck where I am for now no matter... Im wondering about the body offgassing and Ive been advised by others with experience to take showers often (twice a day and at least once a day), wash linens often, change linens at times, dont let worn clothes sit in hamper for long. I think changing out pillows as says is a good idea. Its more than mold for me for sure. Ive heard of others esp who have used LED detox with their kids (autism) that you can smell the chemicals coming out of their skin. I wonder if mold toxins and endotoxins (?) would also do this. Robin > > > > Lets see, I stayed in at my sisters house for almost 2 weeks, no relief. I stayed in one hotel room for another 2 weeks and actually felt worst (water damage in bathroom). I changed hotels and have moved twice within the past week and half and the room Im in without a doubt is the best room so far > > Robin, a year ago after my first exposure I posted about moving to 3 different hotel rooms within a month and not getting any relief. I cant remember who it was but one of the other members sent me an email and suggested the possibility of my body off gassing and that could be why I haven't started feeling better. I dont know if its possible for your body to off gas but at the time it did make sense. > > Two weeks ago my Dr switched me from Sporanox to Diflucan for a month. I am no longer taking CSM due to finances and use the ketoconazole nasal spray on a need be basis again due to finances. > >
Guest guest
I can relate to where your coming from Robin as far as not being able to move but sometimes moving isnt always the answer. First the first time since April I feel Im in a safe place but its only temporary and living in this hotel is a short term solution to a long term problem. Sooner or later Im going to have move to an apartment as this hotel as nice and as safe as it is, is just a little to expensive for me. Your fortunate in that you have your family to give you the emotional support you need but I sit here in this hotel alone and worried about what tomorrow will bring. Other then the clerk at the grocery store I cant remember the last time I had an actual face to face conversation with someone and I cant much rely on my family as they all believe this is in my head and Im some sort of nutcase. I've always said that just because Im alone doesnt mean Im lonely but times have changed, not only am I alone but Im lonely as well. Come Monday Im going to make an appointment with a therapist going through this is alone is a little more than I can handle. Tug > > I dont have the choice to move around. Guest guest
How do you know you cross contaminated someone else's house? Are they now having problem or were they having problems before you went to their house? I've been down this road when it comes to CCing someone else's house and chances are if you did the only person it's going to bother is you. > > I seem to have cross contaminated someones house just by visiting. Places where I sat are causing issues. Any way to mitigate this cross contamination before it grows bigger? Feel so bad. >
Guest guest
What do you wash the contaminated clothes in and once washed how can one be sure the clothes are no longer contaminated? Wouldnt it be better to have the contaminated clothes that have just been washed to air out in a mold free environment as opposed to sealing them up in a air tight container? The only time that I've ever used an air tight container is when I have new clothes and am not sure if the place I'm living in is safe. After 2 weeks of being relatively symptom free is when I'll expose the new clothes to my surroundings. Diane I can only speak from my experience and have lived in 2 different houses that had mold and to my knowledge no one was affected by the mold other than me. On the same token no one has ever reacted to the contaminated clothing that I unknowingly brought with me. I went as far as having air samples performed on a house that I cross contaminated and the results were uncharacteristically low and the spores that were collected were a completely different species than those that were found in my WDB. > > To avoid these problems keep clothes washed in containers. Only get dressed > after showered and only when you are ready to leave put the clothes on. Do not > sit with clean clothes. Put them on and leave. Always decontaminate your > clothes when you wash, then store them.
Guest guest
Hi Tug, I wash clothes in Borax, Washing Soda and Baking Soda, rinse in vinager with GSE. Then I dry and put away. In whatever you want to store in. Sometimes I add a little ecover dish soap/ While in the house these were in suitcase. Unfortunately were forced to leave with clothes on our backs. While in the second place plastic bags, ( i did loose some that sat out ) stuff always happens here I messed up and did not do it all and paid for it. Winter clothes (the few) were unusable for me. Once again I am washing and storing the clothes. The amount of stuff that can land on them while out in the open for me is unbearable. I do not have much at all. This has also helped keep the car safe. God Bless !! dragonflymcs Mayleen ________________________________ From: Tug <tug_slug@...> Sent: Tue, March 1, 2011 11:58:14 PM Subject: [] Re: Cross contamination What do you wash the contaminated clothes in and once washed how can one be sure the clothes are no longer contaminated?
