Guest guest
Dragonfly, that is all great in theory but let me tell you this. Im on disability so I am not sure if it is Medicaid or medicare but I can tell you this. With the bare minimum, xrays and just Dr. visits and meds it is all I can do to keep my head above the water. Truth is I have already drowned. They dont pay crap and I have yet to figure out how I have so much more than I can pay. Not on my income. That is after they take $96 dollars to pay for medical right off the top. I myself have indeed had it. I have many things needed to be checked much less done and can do nothing but suffer. I just cant do it. I need terribly to get back into Shoemaker but some of the tests are not covered and unlike before there is no money to do so. To top it of guess how much the state says I deserve in food stamps. Brace yourself...... A whopping $16, yes $16.00 a month. I feel like I am just lieing around dieing. For me and all of us!!  The is a disgrace. The truth is medicaid is supposed to pay for the specialist you need even if they are not a medicaid provider. It is in there documentation. If your EI is the only person in the state who can treat you for mold iilness Medicaid is supposed to pay. You need to contact your State Medicaid office. Get a refferal from your primary care physician to the specialist. If your local medicaid is giving you a hard time like mine is then you get the autorization from your state office. Then then must pay for specialist and have you PCP state that you need to see him/her for as many visits as necessary. (undetermined amount of time)
Guest guest
Medicaid is income qualified in most our cases and disability.  Medicare is probably what you have not medicaid. I have full medicaid, I do not pay for anything execept a $2.00 copay at Dr office. My meds, visits, tests are all covered. IF and that is a big IF I can find a Dr who wants to take medicaid not medicare. My friend had medicare and he has copays like you. Around 20% and has that deduction you speak of out of your SS , I do not have that. I have not been able to see and Ei and have not had any treatment for mold exposure. Medicaid is giving me a hard time becasue they are not medicaid providers. I went threw this for a medication. I am very sorry you feel as you do and trust me I know the feeling. It's been 6 years and I have 2 lung diseases from mold and have not even had a pulmo. I am on # 6. None have wanted my case. I have not had anyone to manage my 02 in 2 years, I guess want I am doing with that. Food Stamps will not even call me back. Or accomodate my disability. They are rediculous and need a major overhaul. There numbers are from last century. how are we supposed to eat ??? God Bless !! dragonflymcs Mayleen ________________________________ From: <ur_shtnme@...> Sent: Thu, April 22, 2010 6:42:53 PM Subject: Re: [] Re: OK I've had it!! Guest guest
I feel very sad for you and am afraid I can't offer any solutions. But I do want to say that private insurance, blue shield in my case, is no better. This is what I have to say about them: deny, delay, don't pay. The govt. is not looking to spend extra dollars, and the private insurers care about only one thing and that is maximizing their short- term profits, like any other corporation.... We took out a mortgage on our house, gone thru that, now using our retirement $'s, will soon go thru that, but I am not complaining because at least I have that money to do the tests, the therapies and try to get my kid better vs. you who doesn't. I just want to say that healthcare, public or private is in a horrible state in this country... ANd unfortunately, most healthcare providers do not want to contract w/ medicare or private insurers because they don't provide adequate reimbursement to cover costs in some cases, they try and tell them how to practice medicine (especially if they do alternative stuff), they waste their time (think about how much time we spend just trying to get reimbursement on our own cases, vs. they have to do that on all the patients, need a full-time army to fight to get paid). I have seen one of my son's provider's drop blue shield because they couldn't deal with it, I heard about a Mayo clinic dropping medicare at the turn of the year because they don't cover their costs, etc. Not to get political, but to get political, it is just one of many broken aspects of our country today... I hope you can find friends or family or someone who can help a little, have you contacted shoemaker's office to see if they can give you any kind of price break? best, sue >Dragonfly, that is all great in theory but let me tell you this.
