Melody, where do you get your peas to sprout? I've gotten them at the

grocery store, and they always get mushy and stinky before they sprout

enough. I just got some Dun peas from Handy Pantry (through amazon.com)

and they're doing great. They are brown, though, not like the usual

English pea.

I'd like to be able to sprout the ones from the store, since I already

have them and they're so cheap.

Thanks

Goya whole dried peas. they come in bags like the Jack Rabbit or the Lentils.

Don't get split peas. Get whole peas.

Soak overnight. Next day, use some medium like soil, sure to grow mat, baby

blanket, (wet thoroughly) OR...experiment like I did with either paper towels

or coffee filters.

I actually thought they would take root and I'd see roots on the bottom side of

the coffee filters.

No...they just grew UP. Strangest thing I ever saw.

Oh, and I found out that (well this happens in my home anyway).

That once I plant the peas they take a LONG time to take root and grow straight

up. But, once I cut them, in one day they shoot up again.

I get 4 cuttings from one pea. The most amazing act of nature I have ever seen.

And so green.

So remember, it takes time for the peas to shoot up, but after you cut them the

first time, they shoot up so fast you won't believe it.

At least this has been my experience.

Let me know if you do the coffee filter thing.
