I did it for 5 years but I had no home so was able to travel to a warmer

location for winter. Never THAT warm because there's many factor's involved in

location choice.

I run an extension cord into the truck & plug in a heater. You can slam the cord

in the door. The more stuff you have in there the warmer it will stay. Stuff

holds the heat & blocks drafts. Stuff shouldn't be against windows or they will

drip from condensation - wetting ther stuff & dripping water to the floor.

Condensation is a huge issue & will increase if you wait until it's cold in

there before you turn on the heater. Better to leave the temp constant. I also

had a tiny electric dehumidifier by Eva Dry. (low power draw on this one) The

floor of my truck is covered with a layer of borax & a grill over that (Martha

metal shelving.) & a layer of fabric over that so the borax doesn't get

airborn. The borax absorbs the little bit of moisture but then releases it too.

Mold can't grow on it. I also threw 10 to 20 packages of silica on the floor.

A warm body sleeping on the cold surface in there causes the worst condensation

to occur under the bed. My system made a huge difference. Before that I turned

the bed over every day & let it airdry. My bed consists of 2 cushions made for

an outdoor recliner & a bottom layer consisting of a sleeping bag all inside of

a dust-mite cover. The sleepng bag acts sort of like polystyrene does on a house

- less of the cold air meeting hot air situation. Two polar fleece blankets are

folded up under the mattress configuration... between the matress & the " grill " .

The bottom & top sheet is polar fleece & ... and a sleeping bag over that.

Natural fibers are not recommended as they will increase the chances of mold

developing. Trust me on this one. I remeber camping with a novice years ago.

When it was time for bed we all had sleeping bags & she had layers of wet

blankets & sheets.
